Unhappy In how many combinations does bad things happen in a month

I just can't get over this...

In June - Subaru died, sprung an oil leak between IN and OK and went the way of the weasel. Buy new car...

Wife's horse died right after, she had chosen the mare and stallion, did mare care, slept in the barn with the mare and saw her horse being born. She was going into high school at the time. Wife's best friend and our lawn mower.

I spent June TDY and she had to take care of the farm by herself. Someone cut fences, cows pushed fence over, weather issues, fence repairs, transmission problems on truck.

Came back, bull got out, county prosecuter gave us notice as bull was on highway. I found where bull had pulled fence out of ground where it was buried three feet in the ground.

Today we found out the bull has eaten something someone from the road decided to throw away. He was a champion, first place state. Gentle fellow one could stand next to and feed from your had. He pushed his dinner plate over to the fence for me to feed him three days ago. Tomorrow we take him in to be harvested for meat. A very loving gentle bull gone because someone couldn't keep from littering!!!

We are already out thousands this month and now we lose our bull and all that investment. Very painful, financially draining.

When it feels like it's impossible to catch a breath it's usually a good idea to spend a good, long weekend hiding in the house to regroup. Of course, having been involved in only the hiding part for about eight years now, I can't tell you if this is a particularly good plan.

David,
I am sorry to hear of your troubles. Scott pretty much nailed it.
I used to tell my Gunners Mates " if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger" I have been having a rough month as well.

Damn Guys, seems like this past month has been a bugger for us all!!!

I even forgot about 1/2 the guineas and 1/4 the turkeys dropping dead (removing any chance at a profitable harvest) for some unknown reason (healthy one day, dead the next, one at a time).

I'm thinking of investing some money in a fifth of Belvanie. I'll have a jigger for us all, one at a time...

Wife has arranged for some people to come out and go shooting with us. Maybe slinging some lead will make it better?

We at least had a good hay harvest once it could be cut. And it looks like we will get another in a few weeks and, hopefully, a third if things work out really well.

Trouble is, I can hear the banjo playing!!!

Wife called, cow that was just born is now missing.

Out walking the fence line last weekend I get this feeling that I am not alone. Hair standing up on the back of my neck. I look down at the cow prints in the mud nearby, cow prints with cat prints on top of them. Cat was going the opposite way I was... I've seen "her?" a couple of times, about knee high, solid black, nice long tail. There is a large cat rescue a few miles away that has "lost" several cats over the years. Guess this one lives in the state park and visits us. The park rangers recently "found" a large brown cougar down there.

Maybe that is my good luck? Passing AFTER the kitty kat.

Life is about solving problems. Then creating new ones just for the fun of it.

I can relate.
My Subaru popped a rusty brake line(after the last round of repairs), cherry tree got worms(no joy this year), a couple of woodchucks ate most of the vegetable garden before finding their hole and driving them off, went though some heavy family drama(complete with a heaping tablespoon of egos), and the usual money problems.
Could be worse. Could be better.

Tough times are going around. I would stand to guess that most of it is financial based. There are about 7B people trying to solve this part of the problem. It will get solved, perhaps not today or tomorrow, but something will change.

What keeps me going is the Chinese saying "And this too will pass." True in good times as well as bad.

times like this suck. but try to focus on the good stuff.

for example. "truck's tranny sucks!! but at least the motor is good!"

it will turn around. it always does.

now, i gotta ask. what killed the bull? some poison, or did it eat something it couldnt pass. if poisoned, the meat is still fit for consumption?

Appears bull at plastic bottle but that is in question.

If ate plastic bottle, meat could still be edible (Highland is EXCELLENT meat, find some if you have never tried it). If poisened, all bets are off and I have to PAY someone with a backhoe to dig the hole. this happened twice in June. I forgot, the 32 year old donkey died too...

Wow, that sucks. But I have to say, it's nice knowing I'm not alone. I was beginning to think that I was King Midas' unfortunate twin. It seems everything I touch turns to ****. But the thing about life kicking you in the nuts is, that if it keeps happening, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as the first time. They just kinda go numb. Here's to the hope that it all turns out better for ALL of us soon!
