My kind of restaurant

I really don't like going out for the evening and having to live with someone else's screaming kids, sure, they have a right to scream but I am paying to eat, not to put up with their kids. Just like smoking and eating, you have the right to smoke, I have the right not to eat with it. Restaurant Owner's Decision to Ban Young Children Provokes Strong Reactions Published July 13, 2011 A restaurant owner in Pennsylvania says his decision to ban kids under 6 from his business has drawn a generally positive reaction, but some parents are crying foul. Mike Vuick, the owner of McDain’s Restaurant in Monroeville, told the Wall Street Journal that he’s received 2,000 emails in regards to the announcement, with the favorable outnumbering the unfavorable 11-to-1. The ban takes effect Saturday, but restaurant traffic was already up 20 percent on Tuesday. There’s "nothing wrong with babies,” Vuick said, “but the fact is you can't control their volume." He said all that screaming and crying disturbs many of his customers. Vuick added that children might be the center of their parents' universe, as it should be. But he says they're not the center of everyone else's universe too. One regular customer, though, told the Wall Street Journal that she was upset with the decision. ,,,,,,

I am all for it. I have too screaming age kids myself. We will just not go there. It is his restaurant, he should do what ever he wants. Just like smoking, it should be up to the owner. I would love to open up a Gay restaurant and not allow straight men in there. It should make killer money around these parts (avoid places like W Hollywood or Silver Lake). Bus boy and waiters must all be gay.

I looked up that restaurant. If that is upscale dining, Monroeville PA sucks. Its a tiny restaurant on a golf course, BFD. I'm calling advertusing stunt.

I would love a kid-free business traveller only airline. No checked bags, just people who are flying on business.

If parents did what we did when our son was young, restaurants wouldn't feel the need to do this. If your child is screaming, take them out of the restaurant. It's easy to not ruin everyone else's dinner. A restaurant in Beaufort NC has done the something similar: They have a sign on the door that says if children are screaming the family will be asked to leave.

I wish more business would do it. I have had many nice meals interrupted with screaming kids. Now get off my lawn!

What about screaming adults? Anyone want to go there just to test it out? Think Blues Brothers. We could have serious fun with this.

I have been to a LOT of restaurants in a lot of places and so far I have never seen a big argument between adults. I have seen thousands of screaming kids and obnoxious children. One of my buddies walked right up to the parents of two horrible kids at a restaurant and said is a loud voice, "congratulations you two qualify as the worst parents I have seen this year!" He said several people at other tables snickered.

I'd rather listen to screaming kids than adults yacking on their cell phones while I eat. Monroeville, PA? Isn't that up the road from Hooterville?

The only meals I have ever been disturbed by children were my own children. Maybe I'm oblivious or don't go to nice places. Most restaurants are so ****ing loud anyhow I can barely hear the people I'm eating with.

I know Monroeville well. Not the place I go for upscale dining. Still, I hate hearing kids scream or adults on cell phones. If I owned a restaurant and could get away with it, there'd be a cell phone jammer and a glass divider for the kids and smoking sections. If the moms were hot, I guess they could sit in general seating.

I want to live where everyone is like me. Acts like I act. Likes cars. Likes beer and wings. Has well behaved kids. Doesn't talk loud on a cell phone. Keeps thier yard clean. Believes in God. Has a job. Votes on election day. Respects one another.

my daughter is just about two, so I am expecting her to get terrible any day now. she doesn't act out unless she is tired. we wouldn't go to that restaurant, and I understand his point. I have worked as a chef for the past twenty years, and some of the places I worked were not child friendly, candles on the table. long table clothes expensive chairs. it just makes sense, and parents should understand that. get a baby sitter.

I know... I know... you were kidding. I was at a restaurant and a guy was running in circles around the tables with his small child on his shoulder... the other patrons and I were rolling our eyes.

Might as well have restaurant rules that require a manners test before you are allowed to sit. I find that well mannered people don't have screaming kids. The lower the class of diner, the more the kids misbehave. I recently attended a private retirement party for a harbor worker. It was great. About 5 kids with twentysevenhundred grand kids. All but one of the children's parents were sporting ink. Ankle and shoulder tats are popular with the ladies, but alas, I couldn't see underneath their bras and panties. Some of the grandkids were teens and had their own "look". It was a freakin' mayhem. AFA the gay only establishment, one doesn't have to exclude straights. They won't go there anyway. We have dozens in LB and I know where to eat and where not to eat. However, if I were to find myself in a gay mens' domain, I'm sure they would treat me like a queen.

i learned how to box a to-go box when i was four. my little brother never let my mom eat. he would scream. she alway got up, picked up the little effer..and spent the time walking around the restaurant while dad made sure us GOOD kids ate. to this day, i can still dump food from a round plate into a square box with ease! hahha parents changed. the restuarant had to adapt.
