early bird gets ....................

to have a hell of alot of fun. some mornings are truly magnificent. some days are better than others. but some days are TRUE DEJA-VU!

like mine was this early azz am.

since we gots to gets 1000 miles on the ol showroom stock cab from hell after redoing the motor and tranny so we can adjust our valves and dump our brad penn out and change the filter, i have been under the gun to get mileage on the damn thing.

so got up wayy before dawn choked down some coffee, and decided to go put some miles on and get out of TIBET, for a lil bit.

get on the freeway northbound, typical morons riding my butt in the slow or fast lanes. so i goose it and just get away from them and mind my own biz doing the speed limit.

now my spiritual guru and advisor has flat stated "no shifts over 5000rpm or i'll cut yer huevos off!" until we get a 1000 miles on it. hmmm pretty adamant about that. so i have been a fairly good lil boy adhering to his direct order.

well i get out of town, say maybe 50 miles or so, pull into rest stop. get out kick the tires, look for any weeps seeps or leaks as any good lil por-sha daddy should always do(none). look around, see a county mountie heading south. no big deal. watch some traffic and the skyline for awhile and decide to jump back in and head back to the barn.

as i am exiting the rest area i spy in my rearview a RED SOMETHING in the distance. hmmm i wonder??? could it be???? another por-sha????

and lo and behold the por-sha gawds were smiling. if i wasnt DIPPED IN POO it was an EXACT SAME YEAR, EXACT SAME COLOR,EXACT SAME WHEELS, GUARDS FREEKING RED TURBO 911 coupe! i mean the damn thing had the exact same goofy azz'd lil gyroscope thingy thangy on the 3rd eye brake light! we think it was for a cell phone back in the 80's but NO ONE has yet to verify that. me? i think its a inter-ga-lac-u-lar antenna, that transponds good vibes from aliens to my car. but WTF do i know???

so we did what only comes natural to por-sha daddies and proceeded, to have a very fun /safe spirited drive all the way back into town. both of us grinning EAR TO EAR!

now just the day before i had done the exact same lil trek to get miles on. and there were 4 cops in less than a 12 mile stretch. 2 at a construction zone and then 2 others hidden shooting dar-dar. my escort gave me the heads up then but i was still wary in a couple of places and when i slowed down so did the turbo. so it was a damn good time and i am sure we gave quite a few people a show that does not happen very often.

one of those DEJA VU moments i will be flat amazed ever happens again in my life out on the open highway.

thanks red turbo, that was a BLAST THIS EARLY AM!

another fine O-DARK-THIRTY morning. at dawn we STRIKE!

another hundert(100) miles slapped on it just now. beautiful morning on the interstate. yer traditional overnight CARNAGE of java-leeners(javalina), wabbits, raccoons, rock squirrels, various lizards, snakes, quail ,and dove SPLATTERED TO HIGH HELL across the interstate for my driving pleasure.

2 hundert(200) more miles to go and valve adjustment/oil time. gots my earl(oil) my filter, my feeler gauges, zoomy mega cool full race valve cover gaskets and mega cool full race new valve cover nutz and MY NEW OEM OIL RETURN TUBES!

yep finally found a weeper. drivers side. sum beeattch(SOB), this was a quandry while rebuilding. my original ones looked fine, replaced ALL o-rings, circlips, blah blah. a lil cad was missing. no big deal. well note to self................ALWAYS REPLACE OIL RETURN TUBES! and not with goofy aluminum ones. the OEM kind.

oh well, better we find out, close to home, than in the middle of BFE or at the track.

man this thing runs like a raped ape. cant wait to hit RED LINE! ran at 185 degrees F w/the freeking a/c on the entire way.

not a por-sha on the road to today! sigh!

Man, i redlined my rebuild after about 50 clicks.. figured it would help set the rings..And it was the only way forward to fine tune the MFI system... I'm a firm believer in driving the snot out of my cars and teaching them early on how i do things.

I just build it up gradually and engine break a fair amount during break in.

well i have been blessed with a wrench amigo who just so happens to build porschens for a living. for a hell of alot of years. actually schooled in porschens not self taught. hes done alot of motors over the years of all sizes naturally aspirated and turbo's, here in hell, the s.w. dezert-o.

since i only have 200 miles to go, and after monyanas before dawn/work blitz back onto the interstate, i will have only a 100 miles to go, i'll kind of follow his cue.

once those valves are adjusted dead nutz/oil changed..............well RED LINE HERE WE COME!

and we will use our handy dandy LONGACRE oil filter cutter tool on the oil filter and the fuel filter, jus fer shizzilles and giggles.

hell of a nice way to see whats up in yer engine.

and then.................the dawg daze of summer continue...........with the 911 a/c being completely redone. just cant spend enough money on the damn thing.....sheesh!

we managed last week to send out 31.9F out the vents of a 1974 karman ghia. (2) 12x18 condensers, (2) spal fans in the front wheel wells, on top of oem evaporator, new zoomy a/c lines we made, and a new sanden r-134 compresser.

actually had to turn the a/c DOWN it got so COLD. yeah in arizona, can ya believe it? in a freeking GHIA no less.

proved to me you can make a r-134 system DAMN COLD!
