Yep, it is THAT topic again. What I'm really looking for is links to discussions on the topic, probably in some other forums.
Some, serve up the links! ![]()

Buy more capacity than you need. Avoid the cheap stuff - most are just locking sheet metal boxes. Check for UL listing for fire protection. Be sure to anchor to slab, etc.

i ended up with a liberty mongo biggest model, and a canon corner safe. both anchored to core/mantle of the earth. both fire proof for like 3 hours or some such poo. i figure my 2nd story will collapse onto 1st story, when the big one goes off. a light is handy on them. a dehumidifier or big azz bags of dessicant like i use. are worth it.
no better feeling than slamming them shut and ge splitten. any and all morons who "think" they can break in them will DIE TRYING in a very violent ugly manner as both my neighbors are also ARMED TO THE TEETH! hell a 1/4 of my big one is filled with hi buck underwater cameras and strobes and that takes space. wifey wants her crap in there, so buy REALLY REALLY BIG and you will fill it up in no time flat with crap. you all yer pics and taxes and titles and blah blahs.

Ive seen OddJob's safes. They're AWESOME. I got a Costco job, which is adequate. I happened to have a contractor replacing some drywall and carpet in the room and closet where I wanted the safe, so I had him cut the carpet around in, anchor it in the foundation and also install a plug outlet for the cord that goes to the power strip in the safe. It wobbles a little if you shake it, but because it's in a closet and against the back wall, it'd be a serious project to pry it up. There's no room to rock it back and forth, like you see in some of those Youtube videos on how to crack a big safe with crowbars.

heres another (2) tricks. spoon show on a sunday late afternoon.................have pesos in pocket. safe sellers HATE lugging back what they dont sell.
look for used safes or trade ins. alot of the bigger safe stores wheel and deal with trade ins. moving it yerself????????????? well if going across dirt/granite(everywhere here) tile.............ya better have some 1" thick steel plates and one hell of a dolly. when wifey finally twisted my huevos to move my dirty bikes and my safes out of my man cave living room i hired the local safe place to move them. obviously it was a giant PITA to empty them and then get safes into other part of house and then refill them. but it has all worked out and wifey has her living room dining room all to herself w/the exception of my drum set which is next on her "hit" list of my crap thats "OUTTA THERE!" or no more sex. happy wifey= happy lifey!

I have a family member that builds custom steel safes, safe doors, and walk-in concrete safe rooms (as well as commercial bank vaults)... he does work all over the country. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions, or I can get you in touch with him.

Gun Safes : Fire Safe Manufacturer : Sturdy Gun Safe
This is who I will spend my hard earned $$$ in a few years when I move to my next ( LAST ) house. I bought a TL20 safe that I;ve added even more steel to and will be building a drywalled cabinet around to hide it and to add more fire protection to. Terry has some great videos of why to buy his safe. Watch them, I have. The more that you understand how that they make these things the less that you'll trust a cheaper safe. Sturdy safes are not the prettiest things but I will trust my families heirlooms, my documents, pictures, wifes jewelery, my meager firearms, spare keys, some ammo, camera, tapes of family get together as well as a few other things that I do not care to end up at a pawn shop or burnt in a fire. My next safe will be a TALL safe to add more volume with out enlarging the foot print. Yes, BOLT them down. A few guys that know what they're doing can get in or if they're smart remove the safe to a better place to make noise while busting the safe. I paid $400 for this out a company that was closing down it's a 1950's TL20 The outside skin is .100 thick and I added another sheet of 10 ga. over it. Next is a concrete wall that's 2" thick and another sheet of 14 ga steel that forms the interior. ![]()

Try to find poor comments on Sturdy. The only bad I see is that people want high gloss finish and he doesn't do it.
That and he sells direct so you can't see it first unless you can find someone that has one or fly out to FresHELLno CA.

When living in CA, I built a walk in that was about 100 sq ft. bilt of 8 inch concrete block with the cores filled, on top it had a 4 inch slab of concrete with re bar 4 inches on center all protected by a big ole Diebold vault door that I bought from a used safe company. If you could get in you could have what was in there.
Get bigger than you think you will ever need...lots bigger Goldenrods... I also like the ones that use quick drying concrete between the layers of steel. Not only is it a deterrent it acts as fire protection. I also would check the used safe companies for what they have on hand as in used bank vault type of stuff.(big, tall & wide) Some of it is so heavy that you need a Rigger to bring it in. as in a ton or more ![]() ![]() It is easy to build interiors.. Spend the dinero and do it rite, you will only do it once. If U move well then you call out the guys to move it.

Authorities: 17 guns, including 2 assault rifles, stolen from home By SEAN EMERY / THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER MISSION VIEJO – Detectives are investigating a home burglary that resulted in 17 firearms being stolen from a Mission Viejo residence. Investigators believe that sometime between 9:15 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Wednesday the suspects forced their way into a home in the 24000 block of Delphi Street, said Jim Amormino, an Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman. The burglar or burglars apparently broke in through a back window and ransacked the home, stealing more than $200,000 worth of jewelry, cash and firearms. The firearms, which were in a large gun safe that was pried open, included what Amormino described as "two AR-15 assault rifles and 15 handguns." .....
