I could be wrong, but this guy sounds like a guy who was born into money, never worked a day in his life and never grew up.

Google maps show some nice shacks there by the way.

Seaman, 57, was the son of a prominent Long Island family. His father was a banking executive and Republican Party official. Following his parents' divorce when he was 15, he and his mother continued to live on Centre Island. He's lived alone in the house since her death in 1993.

Seaman is unmoved by the complaints, and offers his fellow residents a quirky caveat.

"You should be nice to your neighbors," he said. "They can make you wish you never lived here."

I wonder if he's aware of a precedent, re whether his collection is 'art', that dates back to The Armory Show in NYC back in 1917.

Google Marcel Duchamp's famous sculpture 'Fountain'.
Yeah but it's gone way past the original dispute.

The guy he had the beef with moved so he turned to taking his frustrations out on the entire community.

Not cool.

Some serious coin there.

One way in and out guarded by a private police force.

Article is a bit old but Seinfeld had a shack there and Spielberg was also looking at properties there a couple of years back.

Just goes to show that money does not always equal manners.

I had an issue with my next door neighbor about property lines. Appearently, there was some screwup with the survey markers and almost everyone in town's property based on that marker was off by 8 feet. The property boundaries were well defined by hedges, trees, etc, all on the property lines. He claimed based the new survey he now owned my side yard property, etc, blah blah blah.

When we were selling, I had our old survey which was based on granite markers at the edges of the property. We handed our survey to the survey company (required each time the property changed hands) and they verified our survey was correct. It wasn't required, but I didn't want to sell that property without a proper survey.

I rented a Magna-Trak 202 metal detector pin locator and for the life of me can not find the 4th pin. I searched all evening. They did have bulldozers around the area when they were putting in their driveway but I can't recall how close they got to the fence.

I have measured from the 2 other adjacent pins and found the intersection and also laid a square in the road, eyeballing the road centerline then eyeballing 90 degrees up to where the pin should be. It is right on with the other intersecting points.

2 evenings down the tubes on short notice. There are many other things I would rather be doing.

Well, the loony I mentioned on the first page was arrested Friday. He kicked a neighbor, on that neighbors property. So I think he got trespassing and assault.

Good luck!!

I have seen idiots place the fence corner on the pins

but look at your other fence corner to pin distances for clues

if you stand in the road centerline and extend your arms to the centerline each way
quickly bring then together with out looking in a clap that is a good 90
and far closer then a guesstimate
if the road and rightofway are dead on each other and the property angles are dead 90

adjust the detector on a known pin
or turn to max and then turn down to pin point if you get a signal
pipes can be deep if in soft ground they sink
but a D-8 will knock one and never know it
