mower help - blades not spinning

Need some mower help.....

Blades aren't spinning. Belt isn't broken and w/ engine off and blades engaged it tightens up ... Nothing jammed in the deck, blades rotate by hand ...

Ideas? Help a mechanical idiot out ...

Could be a sheared key in the blade carrier. the shaft the blade attaches to has a keyway and if you have hit something hard with the blade the key can shear.

Shear pin is a safety device.....keeps the motor from grenading when the blade hits and immoveable object.
