Definitely. I'm considering but I have to sell another vehicle first (an SUV I've inherited and want to dump - soulless gas pig, I'd much rather have the Jeep).

Can't be too bad.. the sound and feeling of a SBC with dual exhaust in that small package must make up for it.

It can't be that bad. You have to getting 15-16 per gallon. I bet it will do 65-70 in the fwy with out issues. I drove my neighbor's Willy four banger, I wouldn't go anywhere near 60mph.

You might not want to do 70 in a CJ3. Mine is only 11 feet long bumper to bumper. His is longer due to the extension for the winch. Still, the wheelbase is probably shorter than a Smart Car.

Anyway, they are a handful to drive.

I agree. The fastest I go is 60. It can go faster, but you certainly feel the bumps. Power steering helps on keeping her steady.

Bingo on the gas mileage. I guess it isn't that bad.

I grew up in east Tenn, Dad was from New Jersey. On one of our trips to NJ, we bought a '51 Willys with a metal top and a snow plow. It had the original flat head 4 cyl and 3 speed box. We drove it back to Tn at about 45 mph the whole way ( I was 16 and followed in our '67 MB 250S ).

We added a Warn overdrive and could hit 60 going downhill, with a stiff tailwind. I sold it while in the Navy. Makes me sick that I did. Mr Puff, that's a sweet rig.

I didn't know that a Willys was the ideal snow plow!

Windshield wipers fixed .

I'd hit up area restaurants when it snowed and plow the lot for $25-45 depending on size. I had the vacuum type wipers. It got interesting when it rained and I was going uphill. Did I mention it was east Tennessee? It's kind of hilly there, IYKWIM.

Mr. Puff and I tried to get this out to MA. Unfortunately I don't want to run too far afoul of the MA lift laws, despite some of the things I see out there.

He sent a large number of good pics - this is clean underneath, cleaner undercarriage than a 8-10 yr old vehicle out here - and the frame is boxed, so the install of the 350/TH350 was done well. Bump for a good guy and a nice Willys.

Thanks Dean. It's still for sale people!

I have heard about the vacuum wipers. Luckily mine has the electric ones.

I love Jeeps, the rugged and simple design of the early CJs is beautiful, same reason I love Porsches!

mudman,

How about some specs/info on the Waggy? Looks like a '76? I have had several FSJs(two 79 wags, 86 GW, 89 GW) and am always on the look-out for them.
