Okay, this might not suck. Went to IMDb.com just now to check on something and ran across this trailer for a new flick, "Chasing Mavericks">>>> Chasing Mavericks (2012) - IMDb
According to the listing, it'll be out in October: Chasing Mavericks (2012) - IMDb |

My Own Surfing Thread
I think this became Baz's (My Own Surfing Thread) thread as he stole Tweezer's out from under her.

Thanks, Baz AND Tweez. This thread always puts me right in the mornings .. even if just clicking back through the pages. WAY better than surfer mag.

You're welcome Geary...love those pics of your son - please post more....I know Tweez approves as well :D
Meanwhile...isn't this the best feeling in the world? Only a surfer knows the feeling.... http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...67184269_n.jpg |

OMG! Love all the pics posted recently...
OK, finally bought some wax and getting the board ready to finally get in the water. Been so busy with the new job haven't had time for anything, including surfing. Gonna be really green when I get back in. Has been about 8 months since I have been on a surfboard. Advice on fins. Can't remember if I asked you guys but too lazy to look back. ;) I want to buy the Pro Teck Super Flex Safety Fins since I am deathly afraid of cutting myself. I have had several friends end up in the hospital with some nasty cuts and stitches. And since I am not going to be the best of the best surfer anyway... So what size do I go for? 7-8-9"? What is the difference? The smaller the faster correct? Less drag? Teach me, fellas. Teach the gremmie. :) |
|
Wow that was a really well contested heat, and with all the beans on the table too.
Thanks for posting. Go Aussies! Cheers Richard |
I really thought Parko surfed better and should have won, Richard. It was very close in scoring and the important thing is that an Aussie won! :D
|
Hello? Can somebody answer my fin question? What's the difference in sizes? :(

Hey Tweez, that is a complicated question to answer. It depends on the board, the surf conditions, the rider, etc.
Is this for Ikaika that you are asking about? Show us some pics of the board including the bottom, so we have something to work with. How you been? Are you moving forward with the family 911? Cheers Richard |

I have been good. Busy with a new job that I got back in May. It's with a start up company, a whole 50 employees. Haven't gotten to surf. :( But the CEO of this company is a HUGE surfer. He took three years off to surf. My mom came around enough to put me on the title but other than that I haven't pushed it. Hoping to get a friend on board to help me sway her into actually doing something. Little by little. In the meantime, I love learning new things about the 911 or Porsches in general. It will probably take me ten years to see that Targa get to where I want it but you wait for the things you want, right? ;) |
Aloha Tweez;
Ah a new job, that must be whats been keeping you away from the forum lately. Got to let your boss know of your interest in surfing, so he can use you in San Diego or some other good area. He will understand :-) your needs. Have you tracked down a good outside car cover for your 911 yet? Slow down the weathering a bit. It going to be fun once you have a chance to get started on that project. I did search back to page 13 on this thread and found Ikaika, if it has FCS boxes in it, you could look at the FCS Dolphin or finger model fins, i was thinking around 8 inches would do the trick as a single fin. Or may be 9 inch. since its a nose rider. Those are the ones I'm familure with and think would work well. Its a starting place for the conversation any way. We will see what others here think. It will be great once you get a few sessions in on Ikaika and start to get to know the feel of the board. your riding should progress in leaps and bounds then. Cheers RIchard |
Great advice for Tweez, Richard. I agree 100%.
Now Tweez.....before long this will be you! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...92033513_n.jpg :) |
Richard - you have a PM.....thanks, Baz

This is the main break - called "the Inlet". My house is just beyond that condo on the right about a 15 minute walk away. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...41970562_n.jpg It's just a sand bottom shore break for the most part but the beach curves and then there's the inlet that creates interesting sandbars for the waves to break on so it can be really fun at times. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...93220797_n.jpg Water temp 80 and air temp in upper 80's to low 90's...nice! |

THis one's for the girls
Maybe I'm just getting older, but here's a couple that show off the side of women that really blows my mind ( not that I'm tired of cheescake)
They just have more soul than us fellows. The one could replace the flying lady on a Rolls ....and the link is one of the heaviest things I've ever seen done with a surfboard. Easkey Britton Surfing Iran http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349291873.jpg |
Was at a boardshaping expo yesterday, and satisfied 1 of my man-crushes:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349625521.jpg Mark made this board for me when I went to Australia a few years back. Had a pic w/ him in shop, but couldn't find it. Lotsa cool MR history in there. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349625680.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349625850.jpg Now...if I can get this close to Kimi Raikkonen my life will be complete:D |
That is one of the coolest things ever! Beautiful board! Man, having one of his boards would be so cool. Nice. Thanks for sharing!
|
And by the way, I wouldn't mind getting next to Kimi either... He's cute! ;)
