Yea having it in my office drew a lot of questions when I was meeting with people. Thought it might draw more interest on eBay.

VINMAN 12-09-2011 09:07 AM

Sweet board, Trader!

Man that would look nice over my bar....... Too nice to use.

trader220 12-09-2011 09:10 AM

Make me an offer...

tweezers74 12-09-2011 11:38 AM

Omg, Trader! I love that board! Gorgeous! Now that's what I am talking about! I guess I have the same taste in surfboards that I do with Porsches... Old school!

nostatic 12-09-2011 12:57 PM

The Pipemasters is great for my mood, bad for productivity. I've had it streaming most of the day yesterday and today. Since my local break is pretty much flat right now so probably stream it tomorrow as well :D

Baz 12-09-2011 01:38 PM

Round 4 - Heat # 1 on right now with about 8 minutes left.....Parko just got an insane backside ride....was given a 9.23 but is still in 3rd place - he needs another good wave!

Kalani Chapman has the GoPro camera and they are showing that footage after his rides....amazing stuff!

Jamie O'Brien in second place.....

nostatic 12-09-2011 01:39 PM

when it gets overcast it looks spooky...

Baz 12-09-2011 01:44 PM

Slats now paddling out.......;)

nostatic 12-09-2011 02:08 PM

This John John kid is sick

My little brother has a custom surfboard company: South Sandalwood Surfboards

That's all I got for the surfing deal.

Totally agree - I wouldn't mind seeing him win the whole shebang! :D

tevake 12-09-2011 04:38 PM

Yep John John is really on form. Kelly is stepping it up. I'm enjoying the techincal commentary from Luke Eagan.

How about Evan Valiere, so casual. Go Home boy!!

Nice conditions this afternoon.

Cheers Richard

I haven't had a chance to catch any of the pipe masters. :( and all these pics of boards make me want to get out in the water! But this surfergirl is taking a break... Gonna be a snow bunny for a while. Gonna shred the snow in 7 days at Winterpark and Breckinridge and then Durango on New Years! Woo hoo!!! In the mean time, make sure you boys keep me up with the surfing world! Keep the stoke up! :)

tevake 12-09-2011 05:22 PM

Well tune in Tweez, you are missing a good one girl.
Live Webcast - 2011 Billabong Pipe Masters In Memory of Andy Irons
Are you bringing your son with you to Hawaii in the spring?

Cheers Richard

nostatic 12-09-2011 05:54 PM

yeah, I've spent a fair chunk of the last two days watching the web stream. Totally worth it as the conditions have been epic. Looks like it might drop a bit tomorrow but if it cleans up as well it'll still be awesome.

I am tuning in today while I work on the computer. Probably won't be good to my productivity either, nostatic, but at least I will feel better having my work stuff open on my computer. :D

Totally excited to see these guys surf! Will watch for this John John dude you guys talk about. After watching this, I will probably say screw snowboarding! LOL! I get so pumped up watching videos and coverage of both snowboarding and surfing! I just wish I would have picked up this stuff when I was younger and hotter! LOL!

I am bringing both my sons (didn't you know I have TWO hapa boys? :D) to Oahu in the beginning of April to run the Wahine Half Marathon if I can swing it. Planning on staying at the Marriott Waikiki for a week. Bringing my mom too. My cousin lives there too. Can't wait to run, eat, and surf. I need to just move there. ;)

nostatic 12-10-2011 09:09 AM

fwiw I avoid Oahu, though you can make a pilgrimage to North Shore (April would likely be small or flat). I way prefer Kauai (Hanalei Bay rather than Poipu) or Big Island. The first time I went to HI we went to Kauai first, then went to Oahu for a friend's wedding. We were booked at a hotel in Waikiki and within an hour I was on the phone finding a bed and breakfast on the north shore. I hated Waikiki - it was like LA except I didn't know where the good restaurants were.

Well, an exaggeration, but still, not my thing and really not what Hawaii is about imho. Find a B&B on the north shore and just drive into Honolulu if you need to.

I have been to the Big Island and Maui as well. I stayed in a condo on a golf course in both Maui and on the Big Island. It was more relaxed. This is my second time to Oahu. I stayed in Waikiki last time as well. My cousin lives about ten minutes from Waikiki and the marathon is there. I know traffic is horrible there when I drove last time in Honolulu so if I can stay in the city for the marathon, it would be so much better. I think all the islands have a different feel. Depends on what I am going there for. As for surfing... I live in AZ. Anything is better than AZ. ;)

Baz 12-10-2011 10:06 AM

Well John John is OUT courtesy of Slats but I have to say I think Slats got some extra help as he looked a little clumsy at the end of that last wave when he feel off.....love Slats but bummed to see how this heat ended.....John John should have won IMO.

Now I can root for Parko to win it ALL!!! :D:D:D

I agree Baz... John John! Holy Moly! That one where he pulled out of that barrel? I thought he was down for sure and then nope, he comes gliding out. Insane!!!!!

tevake 12-10-2011 10:52 AM

I was telling my son Adrian the same thing about Kelly's ride while waiting for the score. But on seeing the replay could see why the the scores went the way it did. Plus its tough to beat the champ. Great event for John John may lock up the triple crown for him.

To bad the conditions fell off soo much. Its amazing to see the rides these guys get out of messy conditions.

Kieren Perrow Is doing really well thruout the event!

WOW  this Brazilian kid Gabirial Medina is showing amazing skills!! A new crop of greats are here.

Tweez too bad you are locked in on Oahu for your visit, I'm sure you will have fun, but you've got to fit Kauai into future trips. Tomorrow is the Honolulu Marathon these big events really mess up the traffic with the road closures. Will hope to hook up with you on future trips, get our boys out in the surf.

Cheers Richard

Baz 12-10-2011 11:12 AM

That's OK - Parko and Slats are in the Semi right now with 21 minutes left in the heat!

Baz 12-10-2011 11:33 AM

Parko wins and is in the finals! :p

tevake 12-10-2011 11:55 AM

I'm calling it , Kieren and Joel in the final with Kieren taking it all.

Loving the humble attitude of these guys in the interviews.

Baz 12-10-2011 12:19 PM

I got Parko to win.......woot! :p

tevake 12-10-2011 12:31 PM

Parko has the edge in contest success, But Kieren seems to be riding with mana.
This will be good OY OY.

tweezers74 12-10-2011 12:37 PM

This is so exciting! And I love the trophy board. I think if I was reborn, I would like to be board shaper and designer. How cool would that be?

And Richard, right? Some of those waves didn't look so good and they would pull it off!

I would love to go to Kauai one day. I haven't been there. Are you offering up to be my tour guide? LOL! I just looked up airline tickets. Not as bad as I thought. I love Hawaii... I think I was meant to live there. :0) Only thing is I wouldn't have any where to snowboard!

Baz 12-10-2011 01:06 PM

KP gets it! Good call, Richard! He had a great strategy.

And Tweez.....glad you got some of this...wow....I have a feeling if you lived in Hawaii you wouldn't miss snowboarding AT ALL! ;)

tevake 12-10-2011 01:20 PM

Man what a great result. Did you see the shot with him holding his kids and his wife beaming at him.

So happy for him!!!!

Tweez, come on over I would love to show you around Kauai.

Cheers Richard

tweezers74 12-10-2011 01:37 PM

So cool that John John won the triple crown and is the youngest person to ever win it. And KP, his story is cool. Glad he won.

I am glad I caught the end of this too. So awesome! And it is so true what Andy Irons said about catching a wave. "It's like being kissed by God". RIP. Even me, who literally sucks at surfing, knows what he is talking about. Totally true. Fleeting but for an instant, it seems like time is going by so slow and your senses are heightened. You can feel, hear, see the wind and the water all at the same time. And the rest of the time, you are chasing that feeling again. Even for only seconds. I can only imagine how these guys feel. I am just going straight. These guys are riding all these big barrels. I love it! Thanks for letting me know it was going on, Richard! I love this thread! :)

Hmmm... I don't know, Baz. I really like snowboarding. It gives me a similar rush as surfing but without all that damn paddling! Ha! But the snow, definitely different than the ocean. There is a whole zen factor with the ocean. Surfing is so hard though... and you have to look good... you are half naked. Snowboarding, I can be fat. It will just look like more padding in my snowboard pants. Ha ha!

Dueller 12-21-2011 08:50 AM

Merry Christmas to all you surfers!!!
