Angry Older guys (fifty plus) One thing that irks you the most about getting old?

For me it the friggin ear hair. JC....I've got to pluck hair every week or else it looks as though I've got paint brushes coming out of those little ear nubs.

I can deal with losing hair, needing glasses to read, not hearing as well and putting on weight, but this GD ear hair is driving me nuts!

What's irks you about getting older?

I am not 50 yet but not too far away.
Reading glasses. I have always had very good vision and have never worn glasses. For me it drives me nuts to not be able to see something without the dang things. Then I have to find where I left them...

Nothing pisses me off more than having to deal with f#&!@$ reading glasses every time I need to do anything, especially when I have my head buried in an engine bay or upside down under the dash. I've got several pair, all different strengths for different jobs, but it's always a hassle with stuff out of focus or too much lens reflection.
Sometimes I think I'd even swap my dick for a new set of eyes (but only briefly ).

I understand about the reading thing. I need mega strong glasses to do anything close. Lying under the car and trying to see what it is you're working on has become a joke, I have coke bottle lenses for that.

Still, I can wear glasses but the freaking ear hair sucks big time.

Well let's see....not having the stamina that I used to. I get worn out easy these days, and getting home at 4 a.m. after a gig ruins me for a couple of days now. Hips hurt from standing for 3+ hrs. and carrying heavy equipment.
Also I just hurt some days, muscles, bones just ache for no apparent reason especially later in the evening. I'm 60 years old.

"..that it takes me all night to do what I used to do all night.."

amen to that. Age is one way of treating premature ejaculation.

Just don't wear the glasses and you can't see all your ear hair

It is a cruel thing, the hair on your forehead turns around and stops coming out of the top of your head and starts coming out your ears.

Before I hit 50 I almost never got up at night to pee, and no I did not wet the bed.

I figure all of the pains are better than the only alternative to getting older.

My knee's are really playin out fast so is my back and that bugs me cause I can't do stuff with the cars as easy as I used too. My eleven year old son is starting into Pee-wee hockey and they are allowed to check now so he likes to practice on the old man and shaking that stuff off takes longer now than when I was 40-45, thats what bugs me, I'm wearing out before my time, I think it's cause I played too hard as a kid. I'll be 54 later this year.

I'm about to turn 52 - definitely have good genes, thanks to parents but I've noticed in the last year or so I tire easily, a lot of ***** hurts when it didn't used to, I am more complacent than in the past. My libido is going downhill fast. yuck

Having young hot chicks call me: Sir.

The glasses do suck too, though.

Not being able to shoot with iron sights anymore, even with glasses. Progressive lens' just don't work like that.

I guess my biggest complaint is that my body doesn't bend like it used to.

I used to enjoy my 951, both driving it and working on it. But, it got to a point that I could no longer get to parts of the engine bay without removing the hood and I couldn't get under the dash without removing the seats. I eventually had to give it up.

Oh, reading glasses too. My eye doc says that I have excellent vision other than close up. He told me just to buy cheap reading glasses and not waste my money on a prescription pair. I buy them in bulk from Costco. They are all over the house and in my backpack.

Younger people at work who haven't BTDT, but act like they can do anything and know everything.

They have no idea how little they know, but think decades of experience means nothing. They don't have to know how to do something, they'll just figure it out. Which leads to the next gripe:

I've often refered to then as "the good enough generation".
They tend to do a half-arsed job on something and say, that's good enough.

I take the attitude that if my name is on something it better be as good as we can make it, and they get annoyed because I'm wasting time.

now get off my ..... you know the rest.

I'm convinced that you never actually lose hair, but much like gravity takes it's toll on your muscles and sking by sagging, it also pulls the hair growing from your head and it sprouts out of other unintended places. (ears, nose, etc...)

Agree with the rest, reading glasses...uggh! On top of that, the body wearing out. Still trying to stay in shape (for an old guy) but is becoming increasingly painful/difficult. Shoulders, hips, knees, and especially back, gad this totally sucks!

I needed reading glasses for maps 20 years ago. But it sure did make things easier. Having to put them on to see the buttons on a cell phone is a PITA, but I blame that more on cell phones.

Honestly, glasses would not be my first choice of old age annoyances. I don't like the prospect that I face should replacement. It just gets worse. Last time I was on the track I pretty well knew it was the last time on the track.

That's the b!tch of getting old.
