How to dispose of engines?

I have a couple of small motorcycle engines I would like to throw out. Where is the proper place to take them?

I know of a John Deere Dealer that used many engines from Lawn Garden Tracotors (warranty claims) for fill in their concrete loading dock.......

Up in the high desert I used to hear about guys taking their magnesium VW (?) motors and setting them ablaze. They supposedly burned for days...

I've burned chunks of VW engine cases in a campfire. It doesn't 'for days' but it does burn very hot and bright. It takes some work to get it started, but once it does, you won't be able to look into the fire. The trick is to break the case into small pieces - the smaller, the better.

The trick is to drill some holes, then use the shavings to get it going

that is definitely cool, but I have a drill in my toolbox.

The engine shredder, I must have lost that in the divorce.

I wonder if any of that is cast iron or is it all aluminum. Pretty cool nonetheless!!!

I tried this for a month. All of them flaked. I'll call some scrapyards today.

My office is in a very industrial area. I can put almost anything out front by the curb and it will be gone in short order. I got rid of some very chewed up brake rotors, old toilets, a kitchen sink & even a 60 inch wide ink jet printer. It beats putting it in the dumpster to go to the land fill.

The scrap yards should take it as long as it is "dry" no antifreeze or oil still inside.
