It's a statement ( I think?) by Jean Baudrillard. It seems to suggest that the most "intelligent" people would never attempt to dominate or hold power over their fellow humans. That certainly may explain most of our politicians.

Intelligent people refuse to control or be controlled, which is either a false statement or a new definition of intelligence.

If one is intelligent, one does not wish to dominate. If one is intelligent, one does not wish to be dominated. That's what it means. | ||

Loosely translated, the author was saying "hey look at me I'm a marxist poser" and "I give up".

It is not logical to me. The universe cannot exist without power. Everything in the universe is either dominating or being dominated by another force. A mountain may dominate the landscape and those who try to climb it, but in turn with time and erosion, it is dominated by water. The shift of power drives the change in landscapes. It drives it in people too. So through my odd way of thinking, if there if something neither dominates nor is dominated then it has no impact or value. Without energy, impact or value, why does it exist? So, that quote - I just don't really get the perspective. angela
