Chris, that is sad...the local cops thing.
A few nights ago, I was having a stogie in my garage, door open. Noticed a pickup driving back towards the neighbor's shop. He's in the hospital and I knew his daughter was in Portland, since she asked us to pick up mail, feed the cat, etc. He has some pretty $pendy tools in his shop, equipped for body work. Saw brake lights, then a flashlight. Told Cindy to call the Sheriff...within minutes, one car arrived, followed soon by two others. Two young punks now in custody. Anyway...Yes, I went with a small locally owned alarm company. Great service, and they had install ideas that the larger firms don't do...

"Acoustic glass breakage sensor" sounds like a good idea.

Sorry for the loss of privacy for your Mom , Chris.
About a year after my Dad passed away, my mom had a drunk from the bar next door come into the house and fall asleep on the couch. We believe that he was on the front porch adn my mom didn't see him. When she opened the door to go back to her car for something, he entered the house. He didn't take anything or hurt her but she was so shaken that she wouldn't go out to the front room after dark. We moved her from that house since that time and the drunk guy was sentenced for his crime. In his defense, he did apologize to our family. My point is that my Mom's sense of security was gone. I would suspect your mom feels the same. Keep in touch with her as often as possible. I hope everything works out for you.
