I did my best on the coyote front...

Sorry for your loss. I watched helplessly while a dog killed one of my cats - died right in front of me. That is a sick feeling - god speed.

glewis80SC 10-13-2011 09:14 AM

Sorry about your loss.

When I first got lil Zoey I let her out one night, and something pretty big came outa the sky and buzzed her...I could see a shadow fly about 20 feet over the top of her. At 23 lbs she would be a bit big to carry off by a big bird of prey.

So sorry to read this. This is really a wake-up call for anyone w/ a small dog in CA., or elsewhere in coyote country. They can snatch a small animal really fast. Very sorry once again...

Hey Z,

First off - that's a great photo of you and Sasha.....very cool. I am so damn sorry for your loss - that really sucks!!! A 6 foot high wall, you would think, would be a pretty good barrier so I don't think you can blame yourself for this terrible tragedy. I only hope something good will come from your post - that we can all step up our vigilance against wild marauders.

FWIW - I had a pet Cockatoo named Willoughby, who was hauled away by a raccoon one night who broke into my back porch. I was heart broken and blamed and second-guessed myself a million times but what is done is done you have to move on.

Your rescue is a fitting tribute to Sasha's legacy so I'm proud of you for stepping up - & I totally agree rescued dogs have heaps more character than the rest!

I'll give the herd a little more huggin' tonight for Sasha! Please give us updates from time to time on your little Tasha! Woof!

Baz & herd (Winkipop, Billabong, Banjo, Tucker, Kiwi, and Matilda)

Damn Man, So sorry to hear about this. Don't know If I could have gotten another one so quick, but good on ya. And you're right, it's not in the breed, it's all in the heart.

Buckterrier 10-13-2011 07:12 PM

So sorry, they are our best buds.
I know it doesn't help but the coyote is just trying to make a living also.
RIP puppy

stomachmonkey 10-14-2011 03:54 AM

Hang in there.

I'm sorry for your loss.

My good friends mother had the same thing happen to her dog a few months back.

I think I might lose it and go on a coyote killing rampage if this happened to me.
