Thanks everyone...

If anyone has a starlight or other type nite scope.....I'd sure like to use/borrow/purchase it. I already have grease paint and camo.

Two neighbors lost animals last night. Fuch'n animal control does nothing but hunt down unlicensed dogs and roadkill for dinner.....

Mericet 10-14-2011 09:32 AM

Always sucks to lose a canine companion.

No night scope here...but subsonic .22 long rifle rounds are awfully quiet. Most pistol "match" rounds are subsonic.

Joe Bob 10-14-2011 09:52 AM

All I have is a 10/22 Ruger and my .357s.....

Experiment, but my old semi auto "nylon 66" remington cycles sub sonic "match" ammo quite well...I think your ruger should. Maybe not an instant kill like a high powered rifle would deliver, but an eventually fatal wound is all ya need, right?

Hell, gut shoot the vermin if a head shot is not easy.

azasadny 10-14-2011 10:01 AM

Mike,
So sorry for your loss, especially considering the awful circumstances.

Joe Bob 10-14-2011 10:02 AM

Thanks Art....

Paul, No problem using the 10/22, it's a short barrell carbine or using sub sonic rounds. But....they only come out at night and I need a low light vision enhancement.

Lasik killed my night sight. A 25 round banana clip, I gots. As long as I can find subs in .22 long.

Sub sonicsare all .22 long rifle hollow point. I've had my best rifle groups with "PMC Moderator".

Remington also makes sub sonic as well as CCI...CCI calls theirs "Pistol Match". All cycle well in my old Remington.

For good night vision out to 100 yards? Duct tape one of these puppies to the rifle forend.
Fenix TK60 High Performance LED Flashlight

No need for fancy night vision...turn this on & it wll be daylight! See my "mag light is a candle" thread.

I thought 10/22 Rugers used long rifle, not long? Shold be inscribed on your barrel, near the action?

Joe Bob 10-14-2011 10:33 AM

I have a SureFire light. Problem is I can't see crap in the dark.

I bought the SF to see underneath the car.

pwd72s 10-14-2011 10:47 AM

I had another thought...perhaps one of these in a large enough size?
Stray Dog Trap - Humane Live Animal Traps by Havahart® | Havahart.com

Just tie a rope to the trap...haul to a pond, lake, river, swimming pool, whatever...retrieve trap & dead Coyote when the job is done. Gee, animal control there picks up "road kill"? ;)

madmmac 10-14-2011 12:26 PM

Call them in and you should not even have to leave your back porch. Coyotes are more of a convenience type predator than a stalker.

Here is a bunch of free mp3 downloads, something should hopefully work for you. I did not really look, but if they have a rabbit in distress, that is what I would probably try first. Good luck.

Sorry for your loss.

WolfeMacleod 10-14-2011 01:44 PM

Joe Bob, I'm sorry to hear this. My GF's cat was taken a few months ago by coyotes too. Must have been awful to have seen it happen. :(

Joe Bob 10-17-2011 05:48 PM

Geez, it's just getting better.....Parvo.

You mean the new pup? If so, Key-Rap!

strupgolf 10-17-2011 06:34 PM

Sorry to hear. Hope you can find a friend to take her/his place.

jmaxwell 10-18-2011 03:02 AM

The hits just keep coming, don't they? Sorry to hear it.

tweezers74 10-18-2011 05:46 AM

Mikey, haven't been on the forum for a while. I am so sorry you are hurting. :( Hugs, Mr. Man.

Joe Bob 10-19-2011 01:51 PM

Well, she survived and I pick her up today. Lighter in my pocket at about $1K....

I just couldn't put her down even though I couldn't really afford it.

On the bright side she won't get Parvo anymore....

pwd72s 10-19-2011 03:02 PM

She WILL repay you...may you enjoy many years of devotion. Heck, here I thought parvo was pretty much a death sentence. Nice to know I was wrong.

Joe Bob 10-20-2011 09:23 AM

Well she's home. She was a PITA due to her chewing the IV line, so they put the cone of death on her neck.

Got a tongue wash all the way home. She lost some babyfat and is bouncing off the walls. Wants nothing to do with her crate....had her all but trained....gotta start over.

My Momz actually missed her....she had hinted that I should have put her down when the Parvo diagnosis came up. I gave her the hairy stink eye.....they'll never find her body.
She healed quickly, was less than the estmate of 13-1800 bucks.

Still got pillz, drops and a check up to get thru. Have to keep her away from other dogs for a month.

Thanks for all the notes and posts.....vacinate yer animals.
