Man, I hope me 'singling' you out like that wasn't over the line. I'm apologizing publicly for keeping your username in the quote - in retrospect I shouldn't have done that (regardless of if folks would have figured it out or not).

For the record - I've read quite a few of your posts and it sounds like you're raising some pretty great people in that house of yours.

I don't know why they don't just understand parents can keep their kids out for the few days like that. Parents keep their kids out of school just because they want them to go shopping with them.
The schedule is different every year and there is a conversation within the district - between the school principals and the district leadership - that determines what each year will look like and which days will be off besides the regular holidays.

So far I have not figured out how the parents and our small community of interest is heard. The LA area has a very large Jewish community but out little town has a smaller percentage.

Well, Mr Mikester, Sir

That was a very good post and I predict that your predictions will not come true. And if they do, you are not the failing party.

My wife is Jewish. She grew up on Cape Cod. She'd move back to Boston or the Cape in a heartbeat. LA is not her kind of town. But one of the few things that she's really come to appreciate here in Los Angeles is the huge Jewish community. Heck, who do you think runs Hollywood?

Funny. We have the second largest Jewish population in the country.

FWIW December 25th= christmas is a pagan holiday modified to fit into Christianity. Likewise, Easter with rabbits is more about pagan rites than Christian. Biblically, Passover and "Easter" are the same weekend. Practically, the school year is planned for X days/yr, which encompasses several holidays. Schools understandably might choose to have no school on the most popular holidays.
