I think the side of the ALFA said 1975. It was a later model than 1972.
you are probably right

Thanks for the additional pics and info. I wish someone would post some video of how the ALFA sounded!

The Alfa was doing 1:27's, the two Datsun 240Z's were doing 31's and 32's I was doing 1:33's. The yellow Datsun has a 3.0L 300HP, mine is 2.5L 235HP

I love it.

Since this is off topic, here are some more lovely 12 cylinder sounds.

the car weighs 1950 pounds, and has all the race engine mods, i rev it to 8000, for 80-100 hours, no bearing wear. i hold 20 quarts of oil, and run 2 big coolers up front, its oil cooled not air cooled

Looks like a great turn out. The big bores are fun to watch and hear. Mink's car is awesome.

Thanks for the 12 cyl sound bites. We will never see that glorious time again. Next years 6 cyl's will not be good.

Did the "Big Red" camaro race ? The only resemblance to a real car is the outer skin. The entire chassis was custom made to race La Carrera Classica, Silver State Classic, and other open road point to point races. The motor is huge displacement that will push the car to over 220 mph.

The Alfa is a treat to see and hear. Kudos to Joe Diloreto for bringing it out. Parts have to be made , as very few spares exist. It is rare that it comes out to play- you were blessed

Yes The Big Red ran Friday, Saturday and Sunday, what a sound. He must have been doing 175 down the straight. He broke either an axle or diff.
The Alfa is a beautiful race car and Joe is a very capable driver.
