I'm guessing he doesn't do well in captivity. The nurses will be relieved to wheel him to the curb.

David, glad you're getting better. We'll be thinking of you on Monday. If I may, I'm a certified EMT in Indiana. When I read the first of the thread I thought TIA. TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) mini stroke. This is where a clot temporarily blocks circulation to a part of the brain. When the clot breaks up you go back to feeling "normal". The effected brain cells had only a short period of hypoxia (lack of O2) and did not sustain permanent brain damage. Lots of people, usually older people, die because they don't seek medical attention because the symptoms pass and they think it's over. The second shoe is getting ready to drop. Please, if you see this in any one you know or it happens to you, GET HELP NOW!!! David did and there's going to be a happy ending to the story. Again David, good luck and all the best. Fritz

Worked that way with me. Being in a hospital is a bit like jail...absolutely no freedom to do as you wish.

Some times you just got to put up with some down time. Sorta like when we dig into our Porsches to do a little repair and find that while we are in there yada yada. Then it turns out to be weeks until the sweet ride is back again.
David try to lay back and focus on getting better. We are all hoping for the best outcome on Monday. Mrs. D and Chandra thanks for keeping us updated, as you can see David is very well thought of here. So it is a comfort for us to know how it is going for him. Cheers Richard |

Hey Dave, hope you are doing okay tonight. I was thinking about you earlier and reflecting on my experiences of being in the hospital and thought I would pass a little information to you that might make your stay a little more enjoyable. First, when the guy or gal brings your meals in to you, just tell them to set the meal out of the way for your mom. Just tell them that you had your tonsils taken out and all you can eat is ice cream. You end up with your meal and all the ice cream you can eat. Second, keep hitting up your nurses and doctors for a tricycle. Don't take no for an answer. In less than a day and a half you will have a nice cherry red tricycle to get around on and you will be the king of your wing. Third, when you feel the need for some "special" attention just tell your nurses that it is doctors orders that you only have your temperature taken rectally. It takes them a while to figure this one out, but by then you will be smiling ear to ear. Anyways man hang in there and get this sorted out so you can get back to us!

Hey Dave and family,
I'm sorry I'm a little late to this party but pleas send Dave my warmest wishes and thoughts for a speedy recovery. BTW, does anyone have the address to the hospital so flowers, cards, or gifts could be sent? -Michael

I sure hope David gets better! Listen folks, we are all "guys" here; That means that we resist going to the doctor when we feel ill. The problem with this is that if you have a stroke, once it happens...it is a matter of time. The longer you stay away from medical attention, the MORE grey matter is destroyed. If a symptom like this happens to you, you need to "declare an emergency" like we do in aviation and get your ass to the hospital! The difference might be between a fairly regular life and being a near vegetable. With a stroke, EVERY minute counts!

I guess today is the day of the surgery.
Dave, I suspect I am safe in saying Pelicans around the world are thinking about you and wishing you well. Also, you can tell your Doc that you have thousands of your friends 'looking over his shoulder' to make sure he does this right. No pressure there, eh? ![]() I know you documented the restoration of the old 410 with loads of pics, but I don't think many of us would appreciate the blood. So no pics of this procedure. OK? All the best. Keep us posted. Les
