I'm glad to be here for sure for a lot of reasons. Recovery has not been easy though I will have to admit. I think the first few days of being home were exciting and masked the real trauma that has happened to my body. Today was weird. I went out for the first time with MJ to run some errands. No big deal just picking up a few things at the grocery store. Mostly for my new diet. Man it took me out. When I got home I was all in, pale, and feeling really weak. Went to bed for a couple hours and now typing to you all and taking it real easy. I don't want to go back there so I'm being ultra cautious. I have gotten a lot of PM's from here to which I say god bless ya'll. I'm not trying to be rude because I haven't replied to some, I'm just movin' slow boys, movin' slow. Bear with me.

Think your reaction is normal for such a traumatic (physically and emotionally) experience. Just a day at a time and you'll be back to better than new very soon, no need to rush it.

Yeah, you need serious rest, then slow return to actually doing stuff. I highly recommend finding a tai chi and/or chi gung class near you if you can. Start slow but it'll help your rehab and is good for the long run. There is a reason you see hundreds of old Chinese people doing it in the park every day - it works.

Any surgery takes a lot out of you. Hard to believe a 7" cut in your neck would affect your whole body, but it does. Like the others have said, start off slow. In a month you will be surprised at how much stronger you are feeling.

No such thing as "minor surgery" and your body has certainly gone through a lot recently. Take it slow and let your body tell you when you need to rest!!

Aloha David, I am so glad to see you are home now and feeling up to going out. Lots of good pointers above about the impact of surgery and the need to let yourself heal. Do try to listen. And give yourself time to really recover before expecting too much.
I'm sure you can sense the relief here that you are making your way thru this challenge. And how glad we all are to have you back with us . Whoo Hoo!! :-) Please thank your wife and daughter for keeping us posted on your progress while you were down. Their updates were very appreciated. Cheers Richard |

Convalesce, Dave. Your energy will come back but for now, just rest. Breathe deeply and be happy to be here.

You will rebound it is just going to take time. To borrow a line from my dad, he didn't know how bad he felt until he felt good. Thanks to your recent events I am going to give up my last vice, the cigs. You suck

Exactly what others have said. Take it slow, but don't stop. When we brought my Mother back home in October from her stroke, she was doing well. Then she just quit, and gave up. Don't let this happen to you.

Glad to hear all went in you favor, David. Rest longer than you feel you should.
My father had a myocardial infarction at 38. They scoped the arteries last Tuesday. At 70 years old, he got a stint. 90% blockage, and it wasn't the artery they wanted to look at. The one repaired years ago, had not changed. I worry more about what comes after the blockage is opened. Take it easy, David.

Man ain't THAT the truth. "coulda died" is a life changer. "coulda been a veggie" is even more sobering.

David, glad you're on the mend.. Your reaction is pretty typical for major surgery I've had a few so I can attest.. Listen to your body it will tell you how hard to push it..
