engine swap into old Camaro

My son put a LQ9 in his 69 Chevelle two years ago. A guy from Australia bought it and had it shipped down there.

need speed shop for LQ9 engine

Now he put a LS1 into the Camaro over the weekend. Just installing new exhaust system now.

I'v always told my kids there isn't anything they cannot do, given the right knowledge and tools.

NICE! An LS engine with modern FI is having your horsepower cake and eating it too (with fuel economy/cold start/driveability).

Love these swaps!

One weekend!

Tell him he is a showoff. It took me just a little longer for my swap.

Very cool! Not too much fab work needed right?

Impressive...I'm looking for someone who can put a 5.0 Boss 302 engine in my Bullitt....sorta.

I'm afraid it cheaper & easier to just have a blower installed on the 4.6...

Dunno that I want to do that tho...I prefer normally aspirated over blown engines.

Vinny,
Tranny mount needed to be cut, altered and welded. Also modified engine mounts. He did some minor fab on the exhaust down tubes so as to mate with the new exhaust.

He is having a buddy alter the gas tank for the pump.

My mom had new 67 Camaro back then and friends had the Chevelles. Dad worked for GM and occasionally got a zone car. In 66 he brought home a GTO convertible, yellow. I had fun that weekend.

I don't like them too much now. They rattle too much and it takes too much work to get the sheet metal aligned again.

He does not need to alter the tank, just do the pump in line like the did on 914's. Mount the pump on a frame rail and it will be below the tank so it will always have positive inlet pressure

Very sweet! Need pics of the rest of the car.

Years ago, when I bought my 911, I was considering a '68-71 Chevelle with a crate motor, disc brakes and new suspension. I love the old late 60's stuff.
