Ian, I live in Encino!! :D
Rick, I PM'd my number. |
It was actually a keyboardist with a home studio named Scott Kinsey. He was setting up to record the drummer from Santana A nice guy.
Ian |
That name sounds familiar.
I made it down to Anaheim and back for my errand today. Will be back tomorrow AM hoping that I can get into one of the cheap ($12) lots. |
If you can do it on the bike, I've parked at the Sheraton for free the last two years.

Did you spray paint her jeans on or did she?
|
Her name is Liza. She is an artist performing @UA. They have some new secret product but it wasn't cooperating . . .

Brian from Lauten is here in my room sampling my 'bar' as I type this. He has a new FET mic - large diaphram - that we are premiering at the show.

As long as you'd like booth babe alerts, my friend Kirsty is working the Schecter guitars booth (along with her friend Monica on left with the dark hair).
Kirsty is a kiwi from Auckland, New Zealand now living in LA so you'll like her accent. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1327011434.jpg |
I will break fast wit y'all...lemme know.

NAMM was a success for me! Even though I was there Thursday and Saturday, I had a blast. I met Kirsty and Monica - briefly. Schecter was about to do some autograph signing and Wolfe and I had somehow made our way right in front of the singing table. Kirsty said to come back or some pix and I did, but she was gone. :(
I went around a bunch of the custom guitar builders and I was surprised at their work. Not that they don't put out fantastic guitars, but.... There were things that I would not be happy with... I was also able to meet Phil X (Google him), great guy and a little more mellow in person. On that note, I introduced Wolfe to Phil with the hopes of getting Wolfe another client, but I forgot that Phil was endorsed by another company... That said... After another discussion between Wolfe and Phil later, I showed Phil a pic of my guitar and he wants to see and play it! I also decided to go through an autograph line, because we just could not figure out who the guitarists were. :D One of the signers was Robert Mason, who took over vocals for Jani Lane of Warrant. Since we share the same last name, the ice was broken and we chatted for a few. He recognized "WolfeTone Pickps" on my badge and mentioned how he bought a guitar with a set in them and how he fell in love with them, even recorded an entire album with the guitar. I mentioned that Wolfe was there and waved him over. The two talked and I hope something will come out of the discussion. Sounded like a pretty good chance to me. :) Wolfe also took me to a smaller guitar and amp "show" at one of the hotels and brought my LP with me (I could not easily get it into NAMM). Doug Kauer, of Kauer Guitars played it and was impressed, as was Jesse from Cowtown Guitars - it took me a bit to realize how I "knew" him - from Pawn Stars. A couple of other guys looked at the guitar as well and were impressed. I also had a nice long chat with Ian. Fantastic guy! - though I forgot to ask if they had any t's to give away or by chance, a really nice mic.... ;) I was able to get my little toe in the door! Arg! I would love to be able to put out a few custom guitars a year. I hope that I am able to go to NAMM 2013. I had a blast! Thank you, Wolfe for getting in the doors. I really appreciate it!!! |
I was great to talk with you too, Dave. Sorry, no tees this year. The show has been busy for us - certainly no complaints. We will see what the last day brings. It will be a late night since we have to pack the booth.
Unfortunately Cars & Coffee was a literal washout . . . Ian |
And one of the show tidbits was Stevie Wonder visiting the Rupert Never booth to hear their eggs & asking them to play a song from his iPod: Skrillex

Back from the show. Was down for 3 of the days and I'm beat. I feel for Ian and everyone else that has to tear down.
Ian went way beyond the call of duty today. Turns out that kids under 18 can't get a badge issued without a member (not a gadly like me) present. Calvin had the email and barcode, but after spending time standing in the first line we were told to go upstairs. After standing in that line they said, "nope, no badge...you'll have to get someone with a red or blue badge to sign him in." The boy was pretty dejected as I'd talked up the whole NAMM thing quite a bit. I went in and found Ian while Calvin waited outside and Ian went up and sorted things out much to the gratitude of the boy and I. Ian, send me your work address - I owe you some beverage.
