had a similar problem a couple years back. A quick trip to home depot and $25 snake was the fix.
As previously mentioned, look for a clean out.

After three bottles of Drano Max Gel (the recommended usage is 1/2 bottle), and 20 gallons of boiling water pumped down the drain, the pipes are finally flowing free.
And I didn't have to call a plumber. But I will look into getting the drains all serviced as they are surely not 100%.

Have you considered flushing a cherry bomb?

For future reference, go to a REAL plumbing supply and buy Positive Drain Cleaner, nasty stuff, and some places won't sell it to you unless you're a licensed plumber, hydrochloric acid you need to pour it in with a chemical face shield and put a bucket over the drain incase it comes back in your face.

Well we had this happen at Thanksgiving this year and actually had two clogs, one below the kitchen sink line and the other below the washer line on the bottom floor. Our neighbor is a plumber and I help his computers stay healthy and when needed he pulls out his $400 plus motorized roto-router machine and it has this cutter head that looks like something out of a movie. He ran it into about 4 feet under the sink and hit something solid and went back and forth several times and the line was then open. He did the same thing down stairs and the plug was about 6 feet in from the sink. Cleaned them both right out. He normally charges $60 per drain to run the machine and extra if he has to pull all the pipes apart so I am lucky. If he ever moves I plan to buy one and probably run it once a year or so........

Do not use this crap unless it is someone else's plumbing. In old pipes it will accelerate rusting and the residue stays for years and will ruin plumbing snakes.

Hot water and a good plunger only here, unless it requires snaking.
The enzyme bacteria probably doesn't hurt either. There's a saying "don't put anything in the disposal you wouldn't eat". That means mellon rinds and bones. |

I would cut the down pipe above the exposed level pipe about 6'' above the fitting
and get a slope to the other end by raising the in end higher then the out as the level run will clog up again |
