Came across a Coyote

Early this AM - at dawn, I came across a coyote while walking the dogs. He was rather large. Bigger than others I have seen. Our dogs were pretty cool with it and he took off.

Got a call a few minutes ago - our Son spotted him again and wanted permission to kill it. I told him he was not to discharge any weapons to wit he asked if his compound bow was considered a weapon. Yup! How about the Wrist Rocket Slingshot with a steel ball?

Hmmm. That would prolly just piss it off but if you get a clean shot off at his skull you might do some damage and make him think twice!

Mommy placed a call to animal control (both for our Son and the Coyote!)

Animal Control is pretty good about tracking them down and getting rid of them...Coyotes that is.

You're lucky...the residents of Portland Oregon are given the PETA line that it is we who invaded the Coyote territory.

Where I live, Sheep graze in the area. It's also 100% legal to shoot vermin. Funny how there aren't many coyotes around here...

We have a fairly large coyote hanging around our alley. I last saw it a few months ago. We could call the city animal control officer, but due to budget cuts, they won't come out...

three of them came on our deck last night around 3:00am. It seems that are getting bigger then what they used to be. I took a BBQ grill brush and chase them away. They maybe after my neighbor's llittle dog. We are up in the hills, so there are good few of them around here. I want to shoot it with my pellet gun. They tell me it is not legal to do in the city anymore. I have the whole damn canyon to myself in the back of the house with no neighbors, so I don't think I will hurt anyone.

Had one in my backyard yesterday morning. There are several dens of them surrounding my house. Filled a couple of holes under the chain link fence.

Look 171, it's not a good idea to confront a group of them unless you absolutely have to. They are intelligent, and their "pack behavior" means you could find yourself in trouble really fast.

There's tons of them where I live and you'll see them more now that its mating season. They run thru the back pastures all the time..horses just ignore them and they dont incroach any further since we have 4 German Shepards. And yes, I think they are getting bigger.

Not that I would EVER suggest anyone break a law...But did you guys know that subsonic .22 LR ammo, is very quiet? Just a loud "Pop", like a balloon breaking. PMC "Moderator" is one of the subsonic rounds.

When we lived in Prescott AZ, we were on the Coyote Highway. Our back yard was 40 miles of nothing and I asked the neighbor when we moved in what made the path that was running across. He just laughed and said....you'll find out. Just about every night the pack would come through between midnight and 6am. On full moon nights we could pretty much plan on NO SLEEP.

Here in SC there is a shoot to kill order on coyotes. They are such a problem, the state wants you to shoot them.

Neighbors were feeding them until they found out they were really baiting them for me

i've heard stories of coyotes luring a domestic dog out "to play". once they are our there, the coyotes kill the dog for food. brutal.

my dod is so dumb it would run out there thinking it was someone to play with. there is one running around our neighborhood. i've seen it. cant shoot it tho. i live a golf balls shot away from a police station.

My GF wants to have a cat, but the coyotes keep eating them. Or so she thinks. I don't hear or see coyotes out at her place. But I do carry a .45 just in case. Where I come from, coyotes are good for only one thing. Target practice.

Now thats just plain cruel... If you need to get rid of one just shoot it and be done with it, but why someone would want to inflict a slow painful death on any living creature is beyond me.
