Vash, I have to agree. Watching a pool game is much like watching curling, darts or poker.
I can appreciate that it takes great skill, but it is boring to watch.

I would be more interested in pool on TV if they only allowed hot women to play. And they were in the buff.

Jeanette is getting long in the tooth...doubt you'd get her to go buff. Gotta admit, one pocket is a tough game to understand. More defense and planning than pocketing balls. One game can take hours, and they were playing until somebody got 6 games ahead. I gave up, went to bed around 1:00 AM. At that time, they were even.
Basics of one pocket is you have to sink all your balls in one pocket. First one to sink 8 wins the game. This means soft breaks, most of the shots being shots made to keep your opponent away from his pocket. One funny pool yarn was a top player calling his backer. "I got Mosconi saying he'll play one pocket. Back me for $2,000." The backer agrees. An hour later, the player calls again, asking for another $2,000. Backer: "I thought you said Mosconi doen't play one pocket." Player: "He doesn't. He just smashes the cluster, then pockets 'em." The key to pool is learning to control whitey (the cue ball) after your shot. Mosconi was the world's best at that. His record of 526 balls without a miss in straight pool still stands.

Not the world's greatest spectator sport to be sure, but then again, neither is road racing. Both require an understanding of, and an appreciation for them that is lacking in anyone not really into the game. Most sports are probably like that, really.

But there are no crashes in billiards.

Hmmm, there are those who watch races hoping for a crash. I feel sorry for them, because that shows little understanding of the sport.
I suppose this makes pool a more "pure" sport...those who enjoy watching the game played at a top level are true enthusiasts... (edit) Another factor is that if a survey were to be taken, I'd say 90% of males in the USA would consider themselves to be "above average" drivers. Not so with pool...In that game, I call myself a "recreational banger".
