I just mentioned the same thing to my boss several days ago.

Now I have two tickets on the 4th row up from the floor for a friend of mine who wanted to see a Phoenix Suns game.

Working with one of the owners of the team does have some nice fringe benefits and its nice to pass around when needed.

What Cliff failed to mention was that he would only accept the tickets if I could also help him scratch something off his 'bucketlist" with front row tickets to "Stars On Ice/ The Ice Skating Spectacular"! J/K Vash, like I told you, if it's in my power to help someone scratch something off their "bucketlist", it's a done deal.

And it works both ways, Cliff sent me some 'unobtanium" wine that I'm going to save until I can whip up a dish that can rival his culinary skills. I've gleaned a lot of great info from this BBS, not to mention many of you I consider great friends, it's just that we haven't met in person yet. Many fine men and women here who all would step up to help a friend.

I'll bet I've met 100+ Pelicans from around the world, literally. Every single one was great and a time well spent.

Some good stuff in this thread. Well done Craigster.

So why is this forum like this? I'm active on other forums but I always come back to this one.

That's a great story and nice to know that Craig is such a good guy. I get the same tilted head response from family when I try to explain that someone is a "friend from the Internet". This place is not explainable to outsiders.

Explaining to your wife that you are meeting some guys for drinks that you met on the internet did require some time. She better understood when red-beard showed up at our house after it caught fire in early '10, he had a sizeable check and boxes of clothes all collected from strangers on the internet. We both cried, well not red-beard and I, but the wife and me. I had never expected it, Pelicans are good people.

So what we're saying here is that this place is made from Unexplainium.

I'm on here just about every day just to find out what's happening in the world. The people are simply the best and so helpful. I've visited other sites, (bmw), that's mostly visited by 20"yr wannabe's, who's best insight is the next drunk fest or hip-hop artist. I can't tell you how much I've learned about Porsches and everything else. Thanks to all.

Can't beat Pelican and PPOT. I've looked in on many other boards. This place and it's inhabitants are unique. And, yes, it's hard to explain to others that I've been talking to a bunch of car folks around the country and around the world on the same bulletin board for over a decade.

Hit the nail on the head with the part in bold. I am young and dumb and fully admit to it. There is an expert in almost every subject on this board and that's what keeps me coming back.

Worldly knowledge.

I lurk here almost daily as well, as it is an excellent place for both useful and not so useful information.

What I find most interesting is how many of the people on here are just average folks with better than average hearts. I would venture to guess that Craig is almost embarrassed from the attention that this thread generated because of his kind deed. Just a guy doing what he could to help someone out, not looking for attention or accolades, but good on ya anyway Craig.

Another poster mentioned something that I went through as well, trying to explain to your wife that you are going to meet up with a bunch of guys from the Internet. Had the same conversation myself. Went something like, "You know, the guy I told you about that loaned me those tools." , then it was the guy from Reno is coming in town, etc, etc. Anyway that guy that loaned me the tools was also the same guy that came to my un-air conditioned garage two different Saturdays this past summer (hottest summer on record for Houston) to help get my heads back on and cams timed on my 930 engine. When I asked him about helping me with this task his first question was, "What kind of beer do you drink?". Won't mention him by name, pretty sure that's how he'd want it.

Yea this is a pretty special place. Thanks!
