Really enjoying a Ford right now

This should make Paul happy.......

I currently have a 2012 F150 crew cab as a rental truck and I freaking love it. Basic rental spec options, no Sync or other fun stuff. The 5.0L V8 is fantastic, in over a week's worth of city driving I'm getting 17 MPG, the interior is logically laid out and fairly well made, front seats are comfy, and the back seat is freaking huge. I'm really amazed just how nice it is to drive, it absolutely blows away my father in law's 2008 F150 (previous body style). I've been hauling around 5 people in here regularly, inevitably the first comment is about how spacious the thing is. Two of my co-workers are now thinking about getting one. I'm trying to talk my wife into replacing her Nissan Armada with one, as I've been wanting a truck anyway.

My 2005 Crew 150 is great...even though you seem tepid on the year It takes every fiber of my soul not to commute to DC in it. Leather, seat heat, an a/c with enough oomph to launch the Space Shuttle and 4x4.

It's been paid for since 2007. 97k. Zero problems, nada. I'll never sell it as long as I own the farm.

They make great trucks... I owed various years from the late 80's on and never had one leave me on the side of the road. Yes the new ones are well sorted on the inside.

Paul, whatever you do, DON'T drive a new one with the 5.0L. Compared to my father in law's 2008 with the 5.4L, it's really that much better.

Since my son is headed to college with the 1999 Tacoma and we're towing a lot more, I am looking to get an F250 diesel and turn the 150 into the farm truck, which the Tacoma was until Jack started to drive...you know the deal, all the dirty work.

I drove one a few weeks ago and was pleased.

Your old 4Runner continues apace. My wife won't consider another ride, Matt.

I have an 05 and an 06. Both XLT supercabs with the 5.4. I really want to keep them until they quit running, but am tempted by how nice the new ones are, and the all-at-once tax write-off. They are wonderful trucks. I had an 04 SuperDuty diesel and HATED it.

I have a 10 SuperDuty Diesel and love it. Everyone says the 11 and 12 are even better.

I loved my F150, I enjoyed driving it, but hated parking that thing!

I'm not sold on any of the new emissions motors... Any of them.... Heard way too many issues across the board...

Dunno if this is true but a customer of mine told me that on the diesel you have to take the body off just to take a valve cover off cause it will hit the firewall???

The Fords really do have a lot more room behind the first row than the GM's.

I have a Powerstroke Ford Excursion and will never sell it. In order to get a comparable truck I am in the $55K range, and there is no way I will spend that. Thats 997 and almost 996 GT3 Territory. Not too mention none of the Big 3 make an oil burner full sized SUV anymore.

I rented one a few weeks ago for a job, I think it was brand new(?) F-150 2wd, definitely had the 5.0 engine. I was curious as to the the engine and looked under the hood. It was a nice enough PU truck, drove like a huge car, etc... But I definitely was not blown away by it. F-150s are nice for what they are but I like HD PU trucks.

For the record, I love my F-350 diesel.

We have a 2003 Ford Excursion w/6.0 turbo V8 and a 2006 Ford Flairside pickup. The Excursion is hands down the best tow vehicle we have ever owned, gets 21-22 mpg when not towing (trip mileage) and can carry 7 people and their luggage! The F150 has the 4.6 V8 (gas) and gets about the same fuel mileage as the Diesel. Would not want to part with either one of these vehicles! The Excursion now has 130k on the clock and the F150 61k. Both should be good to go for years to come! Who knows, maybe sometime down the road I will drop a 5.0 engine into the F150 and have a super truck!

I remain very happy with my 1996 F-150. While it is no longer state of the art in gadgetry and plushness (Eddie Bauer model), for many years it was our go-to trip vehicle, until we got into Volvos with better mileage and more creature comforts.
