Just when i find the Cayman S that looks perfect...

I get this as the third email communication:

I just moved to Wyoming and the car is here with me. I had a buyer in this area but his loan wasn't approved so the car is still for sale. If you want to see it I can send it to your place for inspection for no extra cost. Someone owes me a favor and he will pay the shipping charges. You will receive it in 7 days and you will have 5 days to test drive and inspect it to decide if you want to buy it or not. If you don't want to buy the vehicle then I will take care of the car and you will have no obligation. I would like to use a third party to make this transaction so you don't have to send me any money before you see and inspect the car. Let me know if you are still interested and when can we talk.

I asked where in Wyoming as i have several Porsche friends in the area and would like to have one come and look at it...

I guess I'll keep hunting...

Bob

What a pain, eh? I used to try to have some fun with them:

Got a scammer to admit it!

I start all of my car hunting with a list of very pointed, specific questions. That outs the scammers pretty quick.

This was a good one because it was on a legit site (cars), he had CoA as well as the autocheck report that all matched VIN wise and wouldn't be free, so I assumed he got them from another ad.

Here's my followup:

James,

Good news, i just spoke to my cousin, he's a sheriff in Laramie, and he be willing to look at the car (he's a Porsche guy too). Can you send me your address and phone number as well as what would be good for you in the next couple of days.

Thanks,

Bob

Hey Jeff,

Looking for silver with 6 speed, sport chrono, S, bose, PASM, I think all the rest would be gravy, low clicks too. At a real price, i can still bring them up from te states all in for 5-10k less than what they are going for here.
What do you have?
Bob

Why does everyone want silver cars? I don't get it.

Easier for resale. No one buys a car for themselves anymore!

Personally, I'd be after this:

I'd want one that wasn't smoked in though...

Yep, that's the Cayman S I would want, too. But it would have to be a non-smoker selling it for me to even consider buying the car.

If I was in the market for a used Porsche, I'd start with my local PCA group, then look here in the used cars section.
