Are you guys having any problems getting your Excellence?

My neighbor and I have been having problems with our subscriptions for the past year. They used to send it to me as soon as I email them about the missed issue, but I haven't gotten much of a response for #199 (after two or three emails) and now #200. Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with their subscriptions.

No problem with here. I enjoyed the article about Jerry Seinfeld's 550.

I had the same problem ... I called the company that distributes the magazine and they told me that they received a notice from the USPS that my address was undeliverable, which is total BS. I never received any notice from the magazine, nor USPS and the distributors told me that they do not send out any notice to the recipients. Take a look in the magazine and this situation is clearly explained. I find it unacceptable and I canceled my subscription and received the balance of my subscription $$.

Excellence is one of the best magazines on the market, but I "vote with my wallet" and I'm not doing business with a company that knowingly treats their customers like crap. Excellence blames the distributor ... More BS.

Regards, Dave

I have been a subscriber since 1988, issue number 7.

I had some of the last few issues arrive late, so I called them. They have some problems in the SF Bay Area they are trying to sort out. Related to certain zip codes and USPS distribution.

The person I spoke with was credible. If I found her not to be credible I'd contact some of the other folks there... I have met a few through the years.

In my case, the contact immediately sent me a few of the issues I missed.

By the way, I called. I used the contact number in the magazine.

Never had one late. In something like eight or ten years. Guess I'm lucky.

not since i stopped my subscription... grew tired of basically the same stuff over and over. miss some of the stories regarding historic race cars, but for the price for a year, 9 issues no longer seemed worth the cost IMHO.

Never email. Yes, it can work.. but when they are busy you have no clue if/when they will even see it. OR if they got it.

I call, and they are always helpful and send another issue out. We have verified the info on my address label to be 100% accurate. The problem is persuasive enough that the last batch they sent out included tracking with the issues. They do everything they can to get them right. I have known these guys since the publisher sold books out of an industrial facility in San Rafael. I have subscribed since Porsche magazine issue #1.

I am still waiting for my newest issue. It is almost time for me to call again. This will make 3 issues in a row, frustrating. If they weren't so nice and helpful I would just buy it at the news stand. BTW, they make NO money from news stand sales. If you enjoy and value Excellence, you do want to subscribe. It is head and shoulders above the rest of the Porsche magazines. The accuracy of the technical information from the Brit mags is terrible. I have chatted with them but I concluded that they simply do not care. They have some interesting story ideas and sometimes great photography but I am not going to support magazines that are so indifferent to giving accurate information. I still find this strange in a country that is so car/racing crazy. Read a copy of Motorsport magazine if you want to understand how deep and accurate the Brits can be.

I have been having problems for a while now. I discussed this with them at the magazine and it seems their worst problems have been via the Oakland Main processing center. I have heard rumors that the head guy there holds mail and ends up getting a bonus! For that matter, one of the top guys at that facility was just arrested for over $4M "fraud", basically stealing OUR money. I notice the USPS put out a press announcement and basically got the story buried. You can find it by googling "Oakland Postal employee charged".... but you have to go a couple of pages to find it! I can't help but wonder if this may finally help clear the backup there. I sure hope so.

JR
