Have you ever considered Schwalbe Marathons? Great reviews if high mileage puncture resistance is your goal. Pretty heavy, but for a commuter tire...

Back in the 80s, I remember some Continental tires with Egyptian Cotton, sew ups that cost $180 each, and non patchable

Agree with the above. I use Contis, which aren't cheap. Have heard good things about the armadillos, but $65?!?! JHC!

Cheap tires on a car is bad enough. Cheap tires on a road bike? Fuggeddaboutit. You're asking for road rash or broken bones.

I'm just *****ing. Even for really good tires, this seems like a lot. I have a couple of years supply of tubes...I picked a cheap deal for 40 Bontrager tubes.

I was considering the heavier regular Armadillos, since they are only $45. They weigh 95grams more each. I have one set of wheels with 700cx28 with the regulars for the downtown roads.

What happened to the tub tires with silk casing. Silk casings tubs ride so nice and quick. Back then they were 40-50 bucks a piece. the next level were the Egyptian cottons. thread count were important.

I bought one the other day for $65 too and thought about how I b!tch about a $400 car tire that's 50 times bigger than a bike tire.

At least I've convinced myself that carbon rim and hub wheels are not worth it
