I'm crushed.....

Went to have a bone density test this morning.
Got my height measured by the nice lady.....she says 5'10"......I sez WHAT?
I was 5'113/4" for years......really pissed that I never made 6'0....but now....WTF?
Getting old & shrunken really sucks.....less of a man, a shadow of my former self, yada, yada...
Vertical is good, tho....not AS vertical, but still....

As long as you are the same height when laying down, things are good....

I know the feeling. For me it is not loss of height but bone density is in the medium range as measured last month. By the time I am 90(if I make that) I will duct tape a broom handle to my back to keep me upright. In the meantime I eat lots of yoghourt and drink lots of milk. Mind u I have lots of bone between the ears! Does that count?Signed not horizontal.

JP, if I remember you like me have Crohn's right? Crohn's sucks out Vit D and calcium from our bodies. Make sure you take supplements. I was diagnosed with osteopena a few years ago with a bone density test. Oh yes, I have shrunk about a ˝" in the last ten years.

Studies on calcium intake are not conclusive for dairy products.

Get a few lengths of rope and a couple of cars. I'm sure it won't take much effort to get you to 6'.

Sadly, unless I take a Viagra that's no longer true.

Yup. I used to be 5'9". Today, I am exaggerating when I say I am 5'8".

The loss of height is not from bone, it is from the intervertebral discs becoming dehydrated and shrinking.

For bone density concerns, you should be lifting weights. When bone is under stress, it gets stronger, pretty killer system actually.

Friend of mine who turned 50 last year uses an inversion table just about daily. He does sit up/crunches on it while upside down and just hangs for a while. On his last check up they measured him at 1/4 taller than what he's been all his life. He asked them to double check and they said it was correct.

If you look around on the internet you'll find others who've experience the same thing.
