The other night the Rangers totally owned us along the boards. McGuire's insight? " the Devils need to do better along the boards". Duh. I'm sitting there thinking "yeah I know, we're not beating them to the puck, we;'re sitting back, we're not digging in along the boards, we're not taking the body to them." Interview questions "what do you need to do more of" "what do you have to do to win tonight"? Real probing stuff. Give me Don Cherry or the Maven, or Chico any day. |
Finn: I get the American version not the CBC broadcast.
FB: OK, I can understand that you believe he is pointing out the obvious. I think that 99% of the interviews with coaches and coaches during and after the game are mindless pat answers: "So, Fred, how do you plan to beat the other team tonight?" "We're going to out hustle them and score more goals" "So, coach, how do you think your team is doing tonight?" "We doing OK but we need to keep hustling..." (enlightening) Kinda reminds me of an interview with a boxer I heard one time. When asked what his strategy was, he said "I'm gonna go in there and knock the sucker out" I suppose it is due to the fact that 99% of the public couldn't explain icing and as such, color men are part analysts and part educator. Frankly, for years, Mike Milbury used to irritate me. All he wanted to do is argue and he would cut off anyone else that didn't agree with him. Then he came to Versus (now NBC Sports) he did that for one or two weeks and then stopped. I suppose Jones got tired of it. I like that he'll bluntly speak his mind but I want the other commentator to be able to put in their side as well. |

We ain't out of it yet, and are looking strong (as per post #2 of this thread I might ad  ). It certainly helps when you have officiating that is above Peewee/Bantam level as well, unlike game 3. The Coyote "Den" here is going to be a madhouse Tuesday! |

How'd you guys like Brodeurs scorpion save? Nothing quite like being in the right place AND getting lucky. Just like my old coach used to say" sometimes tommy being a good goalie is all about just gettin' in the way".
|
"Scorpion Save" - only an ex-netminder could have come up with that one. Well done FB.
Cheers JB |
The Kings in 5
I finally picked one right. Finn |
Looks like the Devils could close it out tomorrow night. Probably the most resilient Devils team I've seen in years.
|
So who is picking whom for the right to meet LA??
(this should shake up the 'grammar gods') |
I'm thinking Kings/ Devils, Kings in 6.
|
Rangers baby. I still have a sour taste for the Devils from the 90's
|
Holy **** we're goin' to the cup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks to the gods of hockey that you can score standing in the paint. |
As hard as was for me I had to pull for the Devils. Torts can head back to Florida and play golf for the summer. As much as Massier was / is my all time favorite hockey player i still look at the rangers and get sick.
Please if there is a hockey God let the Devils win it all I dont think I can stomach seeing the ex Flyers especially Carter hoist the cup. On my desk is a picture I cut out of the Philly Daily News of myself and my son with the Cup I dont want it tainted !!! Devs in 7 ???? Hope its an entertaining series. |
We're set for a great final, being an out west guy I'd like to see the Kings win it but the emotional fave has to be Marty and the Devils. The Kings may have the advantage of being rested but could come out flat and give the D's a good early start and some momentum. They are also used to the long travel more so then the Devils but those thoughts are probably out the window cause its the final. Looking forward to some great hockey and it will be that, whoever wins will be the "best team on ice".
I have no pick but it will go 7 Finn |
Gonna say Devils in 6.
