Teams that need ticket sales will pay big for him to fill seats and, he has the highest probability of being on the IR for another long stretch when someone bangs into him. Mongo Malkin is a power forward that puts a lot of points up when Crosby is hurt. Stahl is an all around value for big points yet still willing to take one for the team.

You have a point but there is no way Lemieux would ever trade Crosby. I still say Malkin. He will flourish & the Pens can get very good players in return. Yes Stahl is a trooper.

Devils winning may not be a good thing in general. That is boring shut-down hockey, the last five minutes was like a trip back in time, ten years or so.

Ex*******zactly. The only thing missing was the clutching & grabbing. One of the reason Mario retired. Even "The Great One" said he'd have hated playing in that time.

WOW no kidding? Gonna put a hurt on the Flyers.

Devils boring? Uh not anymore. They've changed their style completely. Much more offense oriented.

That being said, they did settle in on D towards the end of last night's game. So it wasn't very representative of how they've been playing 99% of the time.

Let's look at it another way: would any sane person argue that the style of hockey the Devils are playing was what the NHL foresaw when they rewrote the rules? I say no.

I still don't understand why u find Devils hockey to be boring. What do u want them to do differently?

I've seen nothing but fast skating, beating opponent to the puck, incredible forechecking, nuetral zone domination, lots of scoring, etc.

Well there typically is not a lot of scoring, the devils are just great and taking away space from run and gun teams like the Flyers. It's exactly why the Rangers are doing well too...

We'll see how Hartnell's proclamation of the Flyers being scared and soft rings, because that's exactly how I have been seeing them play this series.

As much as it pains me to see my flyers being out played I don't call the Devils game boring by any stretch. Yea I am a Flyers fan and have been for 40 years but I love the game of hockey and they are playing it nearly perfectly right now. The Devils are built to do and play exactly as they are. They don't let you breath, they have a big time goalie, and they are opportunistic in their scoring. I would love to play on a team like that where every player knows exactly what his role is and each of them buys into the system and executes. I know it sucks as a Flyers fan but as a fan of the game its a beautiful thing to see executed correctly.

They are not as bad as a Jacques Lemaire coached team, but the last ten minutes was neutral zone clogging and then dumping the puck back into the Philly zone.

Brodeur was not even a factor, that's a sign right there that the Flyers were shut-down quite nicely.

The 'Yotes & the Kings for Western Conference supremacy. I wonder what the odds-makers had that pegged at before the start of the playoffs.

Cheers

Let me be the first to say well done to the Flyers for two reasons....1 not giving up and 2 not dealing any of my guys a crippling blow.

LETS GO DEVILS!!

Gentlemen, I have seen this act before from the Devils (3 times actually).... Still seems everybody is underestimating them. Rangers, Caps, Yotes & Kings - watch out! The announcers hit the nail right on the head. Devils didn't fall into the same trap Philly used vs. the Penguins. That stuff just ain't gonna happen with Lou Lamoriello running the show.

+1 GO DEVILS! (If the Rangers advance, this will be an awesome series!)

Speaking of play-by-play announcers, you guys not watching any Canadian broadcasts don't have to suffer the vagaries of one insufferable Bob Cole. He is 'brutal' in every sense of the word. CBC (one of our national networks) should stand for for Can Bob Cole. Now if the Caps take down the Rangers, it will still be a pretty interesting series.

Cheers
JB

Bob Cole should have retired 10 years ago - maybe 20! He can't remember the names of the players and just can't follow fast enough.

Not living in Canada anymore, I thankfully didn't get the opportunity to listen to Jim 'I'm in Love with the Canucks' Hughson, orgasming every time Louongo made a save.

mca 05-09-2012 11:11 AM

The 12 ESPN "experts" all picked the Flyers.

Devils never get respect. And I like it that way. Keeps that chip on their shoulders.

GO DEVILS!

I don't follow a specific team but am a big fan of hockey. This years playoffs have been some of the best games I've seen in a while. Lots of surprises and good action. I even like the announcers.

89911 05-09-2012 05:02 PM

I was listening to the NHL network on XM today and they were talking about the Flyers exit. Since the lock out, Bryzgalov had the worst performance of any goalie with a minimum 7 games played. I don't know how you want to spin that, but saying he is overpaid would be an understatement. Pens fans don't get your pride too high either. Fleury isn't too far behind, but he didn't meet the 7 game cut off. I have never been a huge Fleury fan and beyond the 2 runs they had a few years ago with winning the cup once, he has been below average. Seems no one around here, especially the local media want to even mention this. Go Devils, beat the Rangers. Tortorella call the Pens arrogant and then can't even give the media a word. I hope they beat the Caps and lose to the Devils.

flatbutt 05-10-2012 08:21 AM

If the Rangers haven't figured Bryz out yet they never will. I've said it before his aggressive tending isn't supported by an ability to recover laterally which he needs given his lack of rebound control.

The Devils have eally surprised people with their ability to bounce back and adapt. I was very impressed with how they were helping each other skate away from any retaliatory events. And boy did the Flyers try to pull them into some stuff. Some of those pay back hits were brutal!

'Torts' - a real entertaining post-game interview.

trader220 05-10-2012 02:27 PM

The Devils and the Kings had the two best records in the league since the beginning of Feb. Hats off to the Devils for beating my Flyers.

Please anyone but the Rangers or Kings to win the Cup
