the mcmillian m-70 w/custom black molys has already nailed 3 cows. its proven.


my son shoots the marlin 1895 stainless 45/70 w/ 24" barrel, nailed his 3x4 bull with 325 gr hornadays. its proven.


our A&P wrench nailed his bull on the run with his .44 smith 6" pistole with corbons-so its a proven winner.


hell even my socom -16 .308 dropped (1) cow one year. so its proven with 168gr federals.




all in all i about fell OUT OF MY CHAIR just now when i checked AZGFD drawing results and found out we were drawn.



it makes the rest of the year go by real nice knowing when bored.............load the truck,load the quad, grab a rifle and a pistol and GO RIDE THE COUNTRYSIDE and hitting all the water holes/stock tanks/ and being ONE with the land.



unit 10 is HUGE! beyond BELIEF HUGE! and when totally bored there, we just go over to the SALAD BOWL EXPRESS BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTE FE HIGH SPEED DOUBLE TRACKS and watch all the choo-choo action.



its a great unit above I-40 and above williams ,az. that we have HUNTED ALL OUR LIVES! know it like back of hand. its THE HAPPY HUNTING GROUNDS!



plenty of mtn lion/bobkatz/antelopezz'z/deer-ski's/and a TON OF ELK/ java-leaners and other vermints to go after including the DREADED...................HONEY BADGERS!



and when totally bored from counting elk...............theres kaibab lake with TROUTS IN IT and a damn nice campground and great messikan food in williams,az when MRE's just dont cut it anymore!

exactly 1 hr 47 minutes breaking the speed limit from my house .


cant even count how many years we have hunted there. a hell of alot.



pines near williams spreading out north towards grand canon into the cedars and junipers(prime elk land).


lots of cattle and sheep run thru there with gazzillions of stock tanks. all i hope for is WET MONSOON season this year.



end of november can be snow up to our azz'z..............OR bee bopping around in shorts and flip flops............ya never know.

umm i think its been 4 years since last bull tag drawn. here if ya take a HUNTER SAFETY COURSE you get (1) MORE BONUS POINT added to your collection. so that makes (5) that i had to get drawn.


EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A HUNTER SAFETY COURSE! PERIOD!


the drill here in az. is the elk draw deadline i think was 2/12 to put your money in deadline. so here its now april 11th and drawn results came out.


now for all other species(deer) for fall hunts, i think its june when money deadline is due and then results come out in august.

oh every year we try and come up with some stooo-pid ensemble.



a pink head band around my kevlar fritz helmet while on quad should be quite striking and alert other hunters i am in area. it quite possibly may make them laugh so hard they miss their shot on a bull and i end up bagging that bull!

all of our dead elk come from NM. never been so tired in my life packing out the meat. i lost the will to live, halfway down the mountain. back to back bulls..mine was first and the top pic. before my muscles got unsore, my bro knocked down the second bull the next day..shouldering that second load out, i almost cried. we brought friends to help pack.

i owned a .303 enfield with pig sticker bayonet. used to shoot remington rds thru it. it was a great rd. had a blast with it and got a couple off deer with it and other vermints.


BLEW'D them up real good! i really liked the 10rd box magazines. totally legal here the 10rd box on a bolt action.

you aint lived until you have had to hump out 1/4's. hardest thing i have ever done in my entire freeking life.


kicked my ass 6 ways to sunday!


you never know when the opportunity will strike am or pm early or late.


i try to live by these rules but this year all rules are thrown to the wind since its a bull tag:


1) try and nuke em early am. ya got lots of sunlight to 1/4 them

2) try and be close to a quad or truck getting to down'd critter

3) be prepared as hell for a "sundown" shot with plenty of flashlights and lanterns and propane and jackets

4) be prepared to leave meat hanging in tree overnight due to other thieving critters mtn lion/bear/coyotes/the dreaded honey badgers! and crows.


5) bring winch and a poo load of rope(300 ft usgi mtn climbing rope) if ya nail one in a canyon like i have.
