resourcefulness in the garage.....

at work we have pretty much whatever we need to do anything to porsches or whatever..........
however at home I have a small single car garage where I'll mess with little things.......
I have been meaning to track down a horn button for my 924s but haven't had any luck finding something cheap.......
being florida you kinda have to have a horn.........
so I used an old license plate to make a horn ring with a couple momentary buttons.....
pretty basic stuff, but still........
what have you made out of other things?

I'm going to roast some marshmallows tonight using old coathangers. Does that count?

I made a tool to hold the fan on the engine of the old E when I was loosening or tightening the fan bolt.

Started with the aluminum crank arm from a mountain bike. Bandsawed the big end to open it up to a "C" shape, then drilled and tapped two holes to accept bolts which would line up with a couple of the holes in the fan. Heads were removed from the bolts.

I gave it to the new owner when I sold the car.
Sorry, no pics.

I have a drawer of "stuff" that I keep for little projects like that. I think of it as my project drawer. It is full of strange brackets, springs, end caps and just strange stuff. I can't remember of how many times I have dug into the drawer of junk and found the perfect fix for free for some project.

I have about 10 hammers, ranging from a very tiny jeweler's hammer to a 16 pound sledge hammer. If the first one I try doesn't fix it, I move up to the next.
