craftsman warranty

So my electric drill finally gave up the ghost.. it's a craftsman and is probably almost 30 years old..
Think it's still covered under the Sears "lifetime warranty " ?

I don't think so. I am pretty sure this is for "manual" hand tools only with the Craftsman name on them. The warranty does not apply to those with Sears written on them either by the way.

I think the lifetime warranty is only for hand tools.

Sears is doing everything possible to worm out of their warranty obligations

Good Luck!

Sears is repulsive. What used to a great brand has be killed by bean counters and corporate crooks. Their tools are junk, and they will bend over backwards to screw your on warranty repairs.

We bought a Kenmore 'elite' washing machine. We paid more than $1000 for the thing. At the time we bought it, it was the top of the line. I declined to get the extended warranty. Why would I get one? Its their top of the line washer, surely it will last for years, yes?

2 years later, and it has had two major malfunctions. I fixed both myself. The Sears repair guy wanted $550 to put in a new main control board. Even he was disgusted by the situation, but said he had no say in the matter. He actually gave me the part number for the Whirlpool equivalent so I could fix it myself. Cost for the part? $163. Took me about an hour to put it in, and I was working very slowly and carefully.

The Craftsman brand is owned by Danaher. Look them up and you will see that they buy companies and pare them to the bone, remove employee benefits, and suck the company dry.

They also own the Matco brand and have done the same thing there.

E38,, thanks for the heads up!! Danaher is a competitor of a number of companies I represent.. They are the anti-christ of the industrial sales world,, treat customers poorly and their employees worse!!

this is illegal with respect to items purchased before they downgraded their warranties -- but, who can prove what warranty they had years ago?

No not at all. I used to work for a company that Danaher bought and even though I am longer with the company I have many friends still there and they tell me the things that Danaher does.

I think of myself as an independent who can think on his own and is responsible for his own actions.

The following sounds more like Danaher does not own Craftsman, but that Danaher manufactures the Craftsman line of tools under contract.

Craftsman is a line of tools and lawn and garden equipment, owned by KCD IP, LLC (Kenmore Craftsman DieHard Intellectual Property, Limited Liability Company). The tools are sold in Sears, Kmart, and Orchard Supply Hardware stores (all three owned by Sears Holdings Corporation), as well as Fastenal, and US military Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores. The mechanics hand tools have been made by a variety of manufacturers over the years including New Britain, Moore Drop Forge, Easco, Stanley, and most recently the Danaher Corporation.

About 6 month ago I went to Sears to exchange a 12 mm socket that had split. There was no questions or problems. The only bad news is I left with a bolt extractor and a new a few deep sockets I needed. It still cost me money when I go in there.
