My wife made it to 9 months or so with both kids. After that they were interested in larger meals.

Do women with large breasts produce more milk than those of a more modest size?

I tried to breast feed both my boys until they were one but the problem was they got disinterested and wanted table food. Which addresses your question... It doesn't matter the size of breast. It is law of supply and demand. If your baby isn't wanting it and not "sucking" strong enough or long enough, no production. That is why women who don't want to breast feed dry up. So when my boys didn't want it any more, I naturally dried up. Make sense? And to some extent, small breasts get larger. I have small ones and the I think that is the first and only time I referred to my boobs as porn star boobs. . And yeah, teeth can also be no fun... Well, when not expected.

If the kid has to bend down to get to the boob, it's probably time to move to solid food.

(I guess there's a benefit to being short if that's the rule)

I've gotta say, the pic above is just creepy.

That's just creepy. My weird helicopter parent neighbor told my wife that she breast fed her daughter until 5. She also still rides in the back seat of the car with her and pulls her around the neighborhood in a wagon........the kid is 8. As an only child, that girl is going to be so f-ed up.

My wife weaned our first two kids before age two, kid #3 is basically done and not two yet. I noticed a real change in all of our kids when she weaned them, it's basically their first step towards independence. They also like dad a bit better, because all of a sudden mom isn't needed for survival.

Are ya seriously asking or making fun at the Time magazine cover (which is humorous and interesting and serious).

This may be an over share but both my boys were breastfed until they were past 2 years old.

It was a serious bonding experience for my wife and those boys. My oldest stopped getting it because my wife's Dr. told her she might need to stop it to get knocked up again. He wasn't exactly 'ready' from his own point of view. My youngest mostly moved on from it on his own (he's almost 4 now).

My wife is also a lactation educator and she has helped hundreds of women (at least) with their breastfeeding. Apparently it's harder than it looks (that's what she said!).

Still; honestly DUDES.

What the hell is wrong with you people to really question anything about breastfeeding? Sure - seeing that kid (who looks as big as my youngest) hanging off that nipple is unusual but isn't this something between the parents and the kids? Breastfeeding is one of the most healthy things a mom can do for her kids ever. Period. At no point, regardless of age would I question it. I might not be comfortable with a 13 year old breastfeeding but I suspect that doesn't happen often. I've known a lot of granola style moms who don't kick the kids off her boobs early and I think the oldest I've seen out in the wild is around 4. By then, the kids themselves are ready to move on.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen people offended by a woman breastfeeding her child in public. Covered up or not - it's freaking beautiful and should be celebrated not covered up.

Lighten up America and leave the mom's alone.

Also - the topic in the magazine is 'Attachment' parenting and I think it's a pretty interesting and valid parenting concept. I've practiced some of the concepts myself with my boys.

TAKE THIS TO THE BANK!

BREASTFEEDING IS GOOD. DO IT AS LONG AS THE KID WANTS TOO AND AS LONG AS YOU CAN.

By the way, I'm totally a boob man and both my boys are too.

I wasn't breastfed though.

Just remember that this is a free country. You don't want anyone to tell you how to raise your kids, so don't tell others what to do either, just because it doesn't fall in line with your values. I am sure there are worse mothers than the ones who breast feed their offspring all the way to kindergarten!

In general the US population is way to uptight on any subject involving nakedness, including breast feeding. This probably goes back to puritan ethics but is deeply rooted. I think it screws up everyone's sexuality, increases STDs, teen pregnancy rates and sales of porn.

Saw the story on GMA. The chick in the photo, although hot is like "look at me & my boobies". Same as Demi Moore when she was prego, acted like she was the only woman ever to conceive a child. Get over yourself.
As far as the story goes, who the hell cares.
