I have a '72 FJ55. It's great for around town, but much past 50mph & it feels like: "Scotty, she's breaking up, I can't hold her together much longer". (I'm not a trekie & I know that's a misquote, but you get the idea. . . )
It'd been sitting for almost 20 yrs. & it was my winter project to get it running & road worthy. . . pretty simple to work on too. I think the 55 is a bit more niche than the 40s. There are a lot of similar parts between the two - although a lot of the 55-specific ones are becoming hard to find or NLA. ![]() ![]()
