I concur on that, great car! That particular model is the best looking, along with the turbo. The 996 wide body w/ aero is a beautiful car, IMO.

Nicely done! I think the 996C4S has the best looking hips/rear end of just about any 911.

Nice choice. That's one of my favorite 996 models after the turbo and gt2/3. I would love to have one someday.

Thanks, guys. The allure of the widebody was impossible to deny. Nearly perfect proportions. Coming from a turbo 4 cylinder car, the powerband takes some getting used to, but holy cow once the revs are up this car just goes and goes.
The price difference can be significant. One of the cheapest turbos is for sale on here for $37k, which is top money for a C4S, based on my search.

Read it for the first time, start to finish. What a great story for a Saturday morning. I'm envious and wish i was born rich instead of good looking, so i can do the same thing.
Congrats! |

I was recently looking into a 2005 Boxster and a good friend who is a certified wrench at the Porsche dealership advised that any Boxster/Cayman engine 2005 or newer should have the lastest factory IMS bearing. That's good except he believes that the L&N IMS fix will not fit on those later engines. Anyone know if this is true?
Calling Charles Navarro...

Around mid 2005 the LN IMS bearing fix can still be done to the car but the engine case must be split to accomplish it. Makes it a bit more expensive.
Acorrding to Jake Raby (Flat 6 Innovations, who works with Navarro), the later Porsche factory bearing is the same exact design as the earlier bearing, just bigger.
