coolant question

My father's little Honda finally had a leak on the upper rad. hose. Funny thing is, the coolant that dripped out onto the ground and the tranny dries to a crust. What does that mean? Coolant was changed about 30k miles ago. I have never seen that before. it looks like green battery acid but washes right off with a garden hose.

it might be a good idea to swap out the coolant,
also pay close attention to the radiator edge seal,
if it has plastic tanks then it may also be leaking along the seal.

What your seeing is the heavy ends staying behind as the water part of the coolant mixture evaporates.
It might also be a good idea to swap out the thermostat,
use distilled water found at the supermarket to mix with your new coolant

If it leaks onto the ground cats and dogs lick it up and later die of kidney failure.
