I liked her gesticulation. Shows passion and engagement in her words. She also has a great cadence in her commentary. Although I disagree with her conclusion that it's a home run. --that's to be seen.

Someone mentioned the lack of passion in the Tesla video. Do they need to get-off by a little tongue on a 9 volt radio battery? Maybe they should have the engineers stand near it and their hair raises. I'd like to see some spectacular lightning bolts zapping that thing... more power for the Tesla company.

The battle of what you drive has started... are you a greenie or polluter? I'm seeing this argument among neighbors and although I don't care what others think, I enjoy the technology and seeing what develops in the electrics but not giving up my pig '72 T-bird with the 429.

Perhaps for those future off the 'grid', cave dwellers can just convert an old MB diesel, yank the electrics and run on a grease conversion with a hand-crank start. Stinkers need to burn some coal, old bed mattresses, whatever too.

Here's a fun Porsche review that shows her personality, from a couple years ago before she signed on with Motor Trend. Watch 'til the end....

LOL. I watched until the actual end of the video. That trunk is roomier than I thought!

The hand motions are fine -- as long as she's not driving. I would prefer to see her keep both hands on the wheel (eyes on the road more too).

Other than that I enjoyed the review. Helped that it was a Porsche, of course.

Both the Ferrari and Porsche companies were started by people who wanted to to build cars and put their family name on that car. That's what I mean by passion.
Companies like Toyota, Mazda, Honda and Hyundai were started by people who wanted to make money. They're all good cars but I personal don't find any of these desirable.

Not exactly, look up the story of Honda. Very similar to Ferrari.

By no means am I endorsing Tesla (good, bad or other) but from following their progress, employee blogs, etc. the team shouts passion. I doubt many working there consider it just another job. Start-up of an auto production company from nothing is a massive challenge and someones got to have crazy passion to think it could be done.

Then there's the perception of what defines passion in a car company. I would think engineers and designers of every auto manufacturer have deep passion but usually suppressed by the accountants. Thats the difference.

Parts of the east coast are now experiencing days w/o power (electricity) -- not a good time to own a plug-in vehicle. ...well, unless you have a gas generator.

Oh wait, did I depart reality to make an unfair point? Nope. The fact of the matter is black-outs happen. And when they do it's the hardy hydrocarbons which keep things moving.

IOW, quite a few things need to happen for cars like the Tesla to exist as a main-stream solution. Most importantly, we need a MUCH less expensive electrical storage device/technology. (battery). Until that happens the electric car is filling only a niche market as a novelty vehicle.

Yep. ...or as Joe Bob sez, a Tesla toting a trailer with a generator.

I suppose, that to it's credit, if you didn't want to go anywhere one could us a (fully charged) Tesla to run their home electrics for a couple days. ...esp that 85_KWh option. ...of course if you can afford a 110k+ $ electric car, you likely already have a gas generator for the house.

Power outages: Well we could make silly arguments about not getting your petrol when the pumps need electricity.
