He is not a public speaker for sure, hand talker. Besides that it needs AWD and an option to lose that touch screen. Would have to keep wipes in the car to keep the finger prints off.

Who is a Tesla hater?

I think that you confuse peoples understanding of the inevitable with hate.

That is, if there were some guys Telling Captain Smith "you are crazy to take this ship to the north" would Smith conclude those guys were just hating on the Titanic?

Just like the Titanic, the Tesla has a fatal flaw - it doesn't matter how cool, this mfg, or that process patent is, if it has one major, central design flaw, all of that 'cool' fails.

For the record, the Tesla S is by far the most impressive electric car build I have ever seen. But, like the titanic, that does not save it from being fatally flawed.

Oh, and since we are talking flaws...

This is the show-room display of the guts. (Bellevue, WA Display)
Looking at the front center ...can just see the F.Left tire.

zooming in on the battery pack attachment point, you will see a thru-bolt holding a broken battery-pack casting(I expect) and a stack of washers. This is one of four primary double-shear attachment points.

Now, I'm not saying that this is some sort of huge design flaw ...from failure mode POV, the brittle casting here is not like brittle rivets of the Titanic.... but just wanted to point to a small flaw. ...a bit of a warning shot to those who would champion a new electric car design&build as being some expected perfect machine. --it won't be. ...And that's not hating on it, it's just being realistic.

Very neat.

island911- There's going to be some teething in any start-up, especially at this magnitude. I think starting with a clean slate and E. Musk deal with Mr. Toyoda's (of Toyota) really will help in sorting the way a car should be built.

That's what I was saying. My concern is that they aren't doing testing like say Porsche would do. And, even if they could do Porsche-level testing, that still doesn't ensure smooth sailing. ELT (extended life testing) loses accuracy with testing time compression. ...and Tesla is moving pretty damn quickly here.

It's the model pioneered by Microsoft: purchasers of the first several revs are just late beta testers.

See those sleek styling lines? ... they had Apple design them a cool hidden antenna in the steering wheel. --it works great!...as long as you keep your hands off the wheel.
