Most celebs are big tippers. Not because they are naturally generous, (though some surely are), but because they don't want to get called-out all over the web for being a cheap ass hole. They are known for leaving monstrously huge tips because it's a cheap way to get themselves in the gossip pages.

This is how you do it....Peyton left a $200 tip...AFTER 18% was factored in for a tip....

Was he wrong for not tipping the girl, I would say yes but not knowing the whole situation I will not comment. That is between those two.
Were you wrong to call him on it, yes, this is again, between him and her.
Was your friend Tim wrong to ask in the first place, yes.
I am just the type of person to keep my biz mine and leave others alone.
If you liked her service and want to give her a good tip, that is between you and her, and no one else. The same rules apply

I agree, people should take care of the folks like Betsy. That's the society we live in - the clubowner pays her less than a living wage because he knows she's cute and people will tip her. Win-win. It happens all across America every day. We all know it, some of us choose to participate, other people opt out.
What did the other millionaires who didn't tip Betsy say when you tweeted them?

Why would someone ask about the tip of another person other than to see how they measure up against a known rich guy.

Just seems like a sword fight to see who has the biggest one. So your friend is wrong for asking.

You may not have had all the answers. maybe the girl asked for a picture which could have been worth more to her than a tip. ( yea I don't get it either).

Kids need to learn the etiquette of life such as not discussing the tipping or lack of with others.

You should have let it go, as mentioned above what sort of example are you setting for others to follow?

On a more positive note, I've always liked Peyton Manning. Perhaps even more so now.

Calling the guy out for being a douche... no big deal. He's a celeb and it comes with the territory.

However, you probably put Betsy and the Club in an awkward position and , had you had more time to think it over, you might have laid off the Tweet. While the club cannot control the actions of its members, it can enforce policies regarding the behavior of employees and Betsy could have been in the cross hairs for discussing something that was none of your business.

Regarding your friend, it was probably inappropriate to ask about the tip, but that's his right. She should have refused to answer by deflecting the question in some cute way, i.e. "Why do you ask? Do you want to challenge him to a tipping contest, 'cause I'm game?"

If I were her employer, I would sit her down and explain that I understand that this was an awkward situation for her. I would then coach her on a better way to handle the situation. I would not discipline her unless there were other issues about her performance.

This shows how things that seem meaningless at first glance can take on a life of their own very quickly and professionalism is something that should be maintained at all times.

Wait. You use twitter?

THere's your biggest problem right there.

Yeah, guy gets his whole game for free and free refreshments and doesn't tip the little people. Yeah, that's a crappy move. The guy may not have ever thought about it before, and maybe he will now (or maybe not). He's probably pissed at the chick in the cart too. But, now you look a bit like a douche too.

Not every job is one that will provide a "living wage". Some positions, like working for McDonalds, are only stepping stones. You gain experience and then move up or move on.

True, to a degree, but you don't have to be drinking age to schlepp McDonalds.

Yes you did the wrong thing. It's his money and he choses what to do with it. Not you.

Haven't you ever seen reservoir dogs? Go rent that movie right now and watch the diner scene as many times as it takes.

FYI - if you ever attend a "Top 10 HR Myths" seminar, this one is at the top of the list. Employers have no recourse against employees discussing comp. It isn't classy, but it is legal. If you fire someone for this and they retain a savvy employment practices attorney, you could get bitten hard.

With your train of thought on tipping, you are assuming that tipping is something everyone subscribes to. That is simply not true, for many reasons.

Check out your envy quotient by allowing yourself to feel as envious as you really are/were.
Tons of info for you there about what prompts our juvenile behavior.

1. Worry about yourself and whether or not you are being a good person first.

2. Look out for your fellow man and gently encourage others.

3. Re-evaluate 2 from time to time.

I'm good with the tweet.

I think NotaBRG's post was tongue in cheek. I could be wrong (yet again.)
