Thank you so much for the continued donations. The paypal notification emails have been pouring in today. We are making a meaningful impact here. I didn't get to talk to Shaun today, but he texted me and is headed straight to bed. Before he went to bed, he emailed me these

The car?
On the bright side, that should buff out without too much trouble.

Gezzz Shaun, calling that an accident just doesn't do it justice! Glad you're home, which I think is something of a miracle looking at those pictures. You're one tough amigo! Continue the healing and get better!

Z-man 08-07-2012 06:03 PM

I am sure there is a long road te recovery for you, Shaun. That's the bad news. The good news is that you will be able to travel that road. I pray that your recovery will be full and complete.

Hang in there...
-Z-man.

Damn! I drive a '95 E320 just like that, and I'm mightily impressed (and happy) that he survived. If and when I have The Big One, I want to be in a Mercedes-Benz.

Fishcop 08-07-2012 06:07 PM

Wow Shaun, so pleased you were in the left seat... Get well.

dewolf 08-07-2012 06:12 PM

Holy snappin' ducksh$t!!! Mate...you are damned lucky that was a Benz. If that had have been a Jap car, I think this thread would be a very different discussion. Take care and rest easy.

edit: luckily there was no passenger...

Hugh R 08-07-2012 06:26 PM

Wow, effin wow. A broken pelvis is LUCKY. I would not have thought that was survivable.

pavulon 08-07-2012 06:36 PM

get well soon Shaun...and dibs on that filler door!!!

motion 08-07-2012 06:40 PM

WOW!!! :eek::eek:

OK, who's stepping up to restore Shaun's MBZ back to original?

Laneco 08-07-2012 06:44 PM

Holy ****!

I cannot believe you survived, Shaun - but I'm damn glad you did! The world is a better place with you in it.

angela

p.s. - that will not buff out.

Me too. I used to do a lot of towing and recovery when I was young, and saw some wrecks that would freeze your blood. This is one of them. You always knew when there was a fatality, because death has a very particular smell.

You go 0-60 mph in 3-5 seconds, the body releases endorphins and adrenaline; you go 60-0 mph in .3-.5 seconds, the body usual releases every other fluid. Grease spot. If he'd hit that tree just a little differently, this would be an obituary post. He is a lucky, lucky man.

A few hours on the chassis pulling rack, a run to the scrapyard for some panels, hit the glass shop on the way back, slosh some paint around...this can't be more than a weekend's worth of work.

LeeH 08-07-2012 07:12 PM

Holy cow! If I saw that in a junkyard I'd have to assume the accident wasn't survivable. Shaun, you should drop a thank you note to Mercedes for your extra, added bonus life. Can't imagine many vehicles would have taken the same punishment and allowed the occupants to live.

craigster59 08-07-2012 07:21 PM

Dang buddy! Now THAT pic needs to go on a T shirt! Amazing you're home so quickly, probably a little auto x experience to thank for that (along with some help from your Guardian Angel).

Drdogface 08-07-2012 07:30 PM

Shaun, I am glad you are home...hard to believe but happy you are out of the hospital...heal well Amigo

Racerbvd 08-07-2012 07:57 PM

Glad you are OK & home Shaun, if I was close enough, I would work the booth for you buddy..
