This one will not buff, stretch, stitch back together. Fortunately all the kings horses and all the kings men can put Shaun back together again. Three "hip hip hoorays" to a great and swift recovery!!!!

OK, who's stepping up to restore Shaun's MBZ back to original?</div>
</div>A few hours on the chassis pulling rack, a run to the scrapyard for some panels, hit the glass shop on the way back, slosh some paint around...this can't be more than a weekend's worth of work.

I just chatted with him on FB.. he's really tired but doing ok.. I'm sure he'll check in before long. Mentioned he's got a lot of support from family and friends locally ..

So, are you going to put that on a shirt?

Route 25 connector? Looks like a lot of grass for I-95 near Bridgeport.

And goodness gracious - I am thrilled to see you alive after that! Good on you as they say way down south.

Shaun, When I saw the photos of your car three things came to mind:
1) Devine intervention
2) You're as tough as woodpecker lips to have survived
3) We're praying for your speedy recovery!

Looks like the Merritt Pkwy.

Shaun, you are a fortunate man in so many ways.

Oh, of course. Someone earlier mentioned I-95, so I assumed that. Merrit Parkway definitely. Surprised it does not happen more often.

God bless you Shaun!

stomachmonkey 08-09-2012 11:30 AM

Could be 95. It looks like that in spots.

Merritt is doable from where Shaun lives, Mass Pike over then down to Merritt but 95 is still the most direct, likely.

I'm sure we'll get all the details.

Happy that Shaun will be able to do that himself.

Sorry, I thought that Shaun could use a little laugh at this time for a better recovery...

Wow Eric, I don't do FB and hadn't seen those pics. Even more chilling - didn't realize he landed upside down.

Thank the heavens that impact wasn't taken on the drivers side. Two words Shaun...lottery ticket.

Shaun @ Tru6 08-09-2012 08:21 PM

I've always been blessed with great friends, it's a defining reason to be alive, and I have to say Thank you, Thank you All, who took the time to wish me good health here, in email, messages, phone calls and FB. I will cherish your messages and the sentiment behind them forever. Thank you. And especially to dtw! Dave has been with me every hour of the journey. What an amazing friend!

Back to work now, here's the quick story, have left out a lot of gory details. Fall is our biggest season to date, even been a struggle to make it happen. Sometimes growth isn't so great. Our Spring 13 buyers show in NY was August 5-6-7. With a ton of help from friends Chris Bennet and David Delpico (both Pelicans) to say nothing of our amazing office manager Susan, I left for the show early on Aug. 4th to set up our new, very cool booth and have an amazing show. It was a great drive down. Getting everything set-up, I realized I had forgotten our booth signs and also that everything that came in from India directly to the show needed to get up to Boston ASAP for Susan to get out. So I left at 7PM on Saturday and drove back to Boston. Easy. Hit my bed at 10:45PM, good timing. Woke up at 3AM, pulled everything from the car, reloaded with what I needed, and headed back at 5AM. Just enough time to make it all happen.

Even with coffee, oddly I felt tired, but not dangerously so, I've been there before. So instead of pulling over for a rest, I kept going thinking I could catch a quick nap at the show while our sales reps set up the garments. Well, some time around 7AM on Sunday morning, it caught up with me. At the hospital, the State Trooper said I was doing 65 because that's the indentation the needle left on the dash window, his opinion was I fell asleep at the wheel and he also thought I should be dead. Given everything, he was a very nice fellow and was most concerned about me.

Since then it’s been about recovery, slow but sure. The worst wrong is a broken pelvis but at least not so bad that requires surgery. Have to wear a brace for 8 weeks out and about, a different one in bed, and have a PT come in. Broken large toe on left foot. This feels better already There was supposed to be some bleeding on my brain that did get worse for one day, but stopped and after 5 scans, they were OK with it. I tried to explain very little brain damage could actually occur and with 3 days, they seemed to get it. The worse, believe it or not, seems to be the all over body crush. Chest, shoulders are killing me and the Tylenol/codeine 3 is not doing much. My mom said there was 6-8 inches between the steering wheel and the back of the seat. I can feel that.

But I am feeling better little by little every day, and this thread rally cheers me on, thank you!

Go out and hug your loved ones, don’t wait a minute, it could really make a difference. here's how they found me, upside down and in the car. There is no doubt that God and/or the Merc saved my life.
