Glad to see you are doing so well considering... A few observations:
1) I'm shocked that no one has used the time-tested line "that will buff right out"
2) Byron is probably green with envy because your photo is far cooler and getting more attention than his photo of a boo-boo on his hand (or whatever photo of himself he is posting recently) ;)
3) you broke the number one rule: "always keep the shiny side up"
4) Don't punish yourself. We all make mistakes that sometimes create harsh results. Your accident reminds us all to remember that we are not immortal nor indestructible and we need to back away from the edge sometimes lest we become another statistic.
5) take your time getting healed. An extra week or two in rehab and/or W & W (think Elmer Fudd "west and we-wax-ation huuuuua") may pay dividends in not ending up back in the bed for another month because you jumped too soon.
6) Oh, did I mention that it will buff right out? "Laughter doeth good like a medicine" Keep yourself upbeat and we'll see you soon.

Don't make Shaun laugh... nothing worse than caughing or laughing when you have a bruised or broken rib. :)

Glad you are you the mend!

Time tested in that it's way over used. Maybe others thought this is the one time I won't be so trite.

As I look at the pictures I am truly amazed you are still with us. God bless you Shawn and may you heal quickly.

Shaun @ Tru6 08-11-2012 12:25 PM

So glad you made it through Mark, never been a nice guy!

Shaun, glad to see that you are doing ok. Get better fast and have a beer with us in Brooklyn.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Wow! What a wreck Shaun. Glad you are in good shape all things considered.
I've been burnin' the midnight oil some myself and while and in seeing this I will think twice operating any machines after too many hours. Be well and carry on the mission carefully.

This experience has me looking at MB wagons. I've seen a few that look interesting. What year(s) will you be looking for, Shaun?

Tobra 08-11-2012 08:49 PM

With that mechanism of injury, I hope you did not compromise the vascular supply to the head of your femur.

You want to do some deep breathing to stave off the pneumonia. Keep a pillow handy to hug to your chest when you cough, sort of splints your ribs and makes you feel a little less like one is going to pop out the front of your chest. That inspiration spirometer they gave you, breathing exercise deal that you suck on to make the little ball stay between the marks, use it a few times a day.

If you smoke, don't for few months until your pelvis heals.

Everyone, feeling better! Oddly, my right shoulder muscle hurts more than anything. Hoping to do some screen printing today as long as it doesn't hurt my pelvis.

Lee, I've heard many times my car was toward the end of the "handbuilt" Mercedes. Denis and other Mercedes enthusiasts would know more about that, maybe they can chime in. My car was technically only a 2-year run, 1994 and 1995 E320. I don't know when earlier 300 wagons got the 3.2, but I do know you can easily update the front lights of those older cars to the 94/95 style, which are nice and bright.

If you send me links to cars you are looking at, I could help as best I can.

I hope so too! I'm seeing my PCP on Monday and then he'll put me together with an orthopedic surgeon to do more tests. Good advice, I'm using the breathing mechanism every day. Feel good about my lungs. Have never smoked, can't even imagine it!

Steve Carlton 08-12-2012 06:35 AM

Are you going to make a limited run, exclusive T-shirt from this?

Shaun @ Tru6 08-12-2012 07:09 AM

it won't be pretty, that's for sure. :)

Unobtanium-inc 08-12-2012 07:18 AM

Shaun,
On top of my donation, I'm offering crab cake sandwiches to you and your helpers at the next Hershey swap. I'm now confident you can survive the food at Hershey.

Screen printing today? Man, get back on the couch. Get someone to run that machine for you.

In fact, I knew a guy that had an accident and had to stop the physical work. From that point on, his business grew rapidly every month.

He learned to delegate.

Still wishing for a speedy and complete recovery. But you have to participate! :)

I'm doing my best Gentlemen. :) this is the busiest time of year for me, and there are certain things that only I do, but I do have a ton of friends helping to get us back up to date. Looking forward to a good week being minorly mobile. I can't sit around, it's not good for me.
