He just called; we got in about 3 mins before his doc came in and he had to go. He was just getting ready to tell me about the 'damage' when he had to go, so I still don't know how bad he is. He is heavily drugged, and is still going to be in the hospital for another couple days.

This is hard to write. Knowing he's drugged, means he's in pain. If there's pain, there's damage. Still, he is really, really lucky. When he's more alert, I'll send him a link to this thread. It should perk him up.
