				Repetitive humming

If you are around someone that does this, how long can you hold out? By repetitive humming I mean, repeating the same tune for 20, 30 minutes at a time... If I do it, somebody please stop me... KT

Don't know what tonal/wavelength/hertz the typical humming is, but some sounds are universally pleasing. A parallel is the shopper olfactory experience of first walking into a store, and smelling stink vs. inviting florescence. Except for those immediately allergic, it makes the time spent more attractive. Customers attract customers. Corporations are quite versed in subliminal intonations: -You hear it in the music, and the immediate visual images past the doorway. -Old experiments tried included sub/hyper-sonic shopping suggestions outside the human hearing spectrum, and pumped over the sound system. -Anything which controls the cattle. | ||

Whoa! Down, boy! Didn't know you swung that way, Zzzzeke. Not that there's anything wrong with that! He's busy tonight, so you're trolling?

As has been said of, for example, the sound "om", as in the chant, "om mani padme hum". Subliminal influence; interesting stuff.

My mother-in-law hums tunlessly 24/7. She's a wonderful, loving, giving woman who drives me bat-schit crazy.

Yes, all of them. But her younger sister has none and wears dentures. She might be more your speed.

That's fowl play. I've probably gotten as many on that one as "Say 'Knock knock.'"

Nah, you're prepared. Ya gotta catch the person off guard - they say "Knock knock", you ask, "Who's there?", they say, "Uhh...", you laugh then say, "No, seriously, say 'Knock knock'", they bite again and say knock knock, you ask again, "Who's there?", they say, "Uhh..." again...or they take a swing at ya. I've had people bite on that one three times before they caught on. I can be a real horse's ass. Damn, I can't believe that I've so tediously described that old kid's joke.
