It's more popular in countries where they play a lot of soccer. Or I should say, with guys who come from countries where they play a lot of soccer. That's my impression, anyways.

I'm originally from the UK, and have seen it used in action. The strategy is to attempt to get the forehead to connect with the bridge of the adversary's nose. Its meant to be a surprise attack the idea being the hands are not raised. Commonly used in Football hooliganism, and in Pub showdowns. Getting much more common in the random violence meted out in the UK that is fueled by alcohol.

in grade school. a kid kept bear hugging me from behind to try to stuff me into a locker. i told my dad, and he taught me to put my head into his face by slamming the BACK of my head into his face. we practiced the move..i never did get to use it..for some reason, the guy just stopped. i think i was ready.

Yes and it split my head open right above my left eye. Bled all over myself and required stitches. It's not worth it.

Yep, if you do it right it'll hurt the other guy a whole lot more than you. There's a hard sport right in the middle of the forehead near the hair line that seems to be harder and less sensitive than the rest O'your knoggin. Hit em with that spot on a location on their knoggin other than that spot and you'll put em on their knees. Just don't get carried away or you'll both be on your knees. BTW it's a young man's move. The older you get the more it hurts.

On a train outside Paris and a group of thugs were working their way thru the cars attacking people and they entered our car and immediately punched one of our guys. Scott jumped up and grabbed the first guy by the head and gave him a head butt to the nose and it just exploded. Actually grabbed the thugs head and slammed it into his. Thug buddy tries to kick Scott and he grags his leg and was going to elbow his knee and then decides to hit him in the throat instead, and does. They moved on to the next train. We all just stared at Scott as he sat back down, of course covered with dirtbag blood. That was exciting.

I saw a head-but from a forehead to a nose. The blood was squirting like crazy. The guy with a broken nose was the aggressor and running away after that. The cops found him by following the blood trail. The perp was covered in his own blood.

Oh yeah...it f'ing hurts! Enough beer and/or bourbon means it doesn't hurt as much until later, based on my experience. Always kind of dizzy-making, though. Think self-inflicted "getting your bell rung". But then, I was a HS linebacker many years ago and some of the crazy is still in there somewhere. Seriously, I think whenever I did it, I kind of tensed my forehead muscles and used the part of my forehead right near the hairline. I also think it might help if you don't hit the other guy quite head on. I tried for the nose, but never did that trick. Once I remember the other guy turning his head right before I hit him and I hit kind of near his temple. He sat down hard on the floor and I got worried about what kind of trouble I was in for really hurting the guy. I never did get a bad cut with a head butt, just small ones. Welts and bruises, sure. But then, I wasn't sure what came from what move. Contrary to TV and movies, fights don't last long. A few moves and one or more of the guys is moving away, down, bloody, or all 3. And it sure is hard to remember details. Last edited by dw1; 08-13-2012 at 05:39 PM..

A resultant fractured larynx (voicebox) can result in a pretty gruesome death (suffocation) on the spot. The neck is high-priced real estate. If you go for the throat, you'd best be playing for keeps.

In the USMC they taught us that in a fight, take your finger and jam it inside the eye socket closest to the nose like you are trying to pluck his eye out. He WILL retreat.
