I'm still up over 100% from my initial investment, but for a while now, I've wondered if their moat is eroding
|
Yes.
Plus people don't need to pay $1200 for a phone. |

I predict AAPL will do nicely today....so there is that ;).... I have no clue... |
Anybody hanging on to their apple stock? As mentioned above taking profits is not a bad thing. Might do that.....
|
Doomed I say.
$245 Billion cash on hand and they are done. How many years could they operate without even producing one new product? |
I moved on. It was really more of a change in my investing strategy than anything. 100% return not including dividends ain't too shabby.

Beat estimates and up $10 after market closed plus higher dividend!

Thankfully the stocks I bought to replace Apple have done well, not as well but enough to take the sting off😀 |

Wow...
Rock on boyz ;)! |
Apple is killin' it in the cloud, and the phones are adequate to retain existing customers (not to mention fan boyz).
MSFT is doing even better in cloud svcs, and it look like Oracle is getting their cloud act together too. |
I still have some I bought around $80 before the 7 way split. Done very very well.
I do wish I didn't sell at $24 way back when. That might have been a mistake... |
$280 yesterday
|
$300.
|
Patience has its benefit. Yay apple!

Apple Soars on Strong iPhone Sales in China
Shares of Apple gained as much as 2.1% on Thursday 9 January, as demand for iPhones soared once again in China, after the iPhone maker warned investors in January 2019 of the serious slowdown in the Chinese market. iPhone sales rose 18% in December from the same period last year, much stronger than Wall Street’s projection. Per the data by China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, Apple had shipped about 3.2 million iPhones to China in December against December 2018’s 2.7 million. China is a crucial market for Apple, as the Asian country accounts for about 17% of the company’s total sales. Apple carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). |
$322 in after hours trading.
|
Basically doubled since I sold...wonderful.
I did buy at $84 and sold at $168 so that's something...but not as nice as selling at $322! |

Call me crazy, but today I wanted to add a new stock to my portfolio and I picked Apple over Tesla. Long-term, I think it's the better pick. TSLA is way over-valued, mostly because Musk is like Justin Beiber to young investors.

Canadian Pot.... LOL :( |
Haha! Stay away!
Amazing this thread is coming up on its 8 year anniversary. |
I’ve only bought AAPL, never sold a single share since the beginning of this thread.
I do think, however, that a big decline is coming. So I don’t really count all the gains as “real.” I just don’t think this picture can be maintained.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1596220970.jpg |
Holy cow. And I had been tempted to put in an order to sell at $400
|
Never be afraid to take profits out of "the game". Anyone who's been in APPL for years has experienced the 50% drop like I did once (08-09 methinks) but it recovered.
I wish I had not sold TSLA at 33 too :D. Just don't buy Pot stocks :) |
Might be a dumb move but I am planning to buy some APPL since it will increase after the split in my opinion. We shall see.
Also, can anyone direct me to the general stock talk thread? Thanks |
