As expected, first company to reach USD 1T market cap after another incredible quarter.

AAPL - WOW - It's going NUTS!
|
Mostly on the sidelines with equities now, but still have a small position. I remembered this thread yesterday....way back I predicted RIMM would double before AAPL did....200 finally did it :).
AAPL always goes up, up up! ...or was that real estate ;)? |
maybe OT - the iphone could be classified as a drug IMHO.
If you use something 3 to 8 hours a day you can justify getting a newer/better version when they come out even if they are $1,000+ a pop. I don't see any signs people are using their phones less. |
I love folks who are addicted to fresh apples....
|
It is just amazing that Apple was just a few days away from running out of cash and on the verge of going bankrupt. Steve Jobs went to Bill Gates and talked Bill Gates into investing in Apple. That was when Steve Jobs came back to Apple and brought them back from the edge of oblivion.
I wonder how much of Apple Bill still owns. It was for sure a wise investment. |

Interesting to go back to 2012/2013 in this thread, when I started accumulating Apple.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/698286-aapl-how-high-will-go-9.html It seems easy now, but it was a rough ride! The stock went up and down, and it's interesting to read the early threads where I talked about how tempted I was to sell. As it stands, since 2012 I've never sold a single share of Apple, and in fact have done nothing but buy more. Six years since this thread started! Keep on truckin'! |
I think Berkshire Hathaway is up around $1B in the stock.

This whole thread has been an epic hoot. Wish some fellows in the middle pages would check back in...the gloomy doomys ;)
Good for you for stickin' it out McL... I've just changed my overall strategy lately with equities and reduced my positions across the board....it's been a helluva ten year bull run. I'm not an Apple fan...but I've been in & out of the stock for decades...no complaints whatsoever :). |

I came to the conclusion back then that Apple is going to remain the most transformative and important company of our generation. They do continue to innovate, but in addition, their brand value simply cannot be touched, and that cuts through to all generations of people young and old (but esp. young). They attract the best and the brightest new talent, and I don't think that will ever change. Like every company, there will be ups and downs, but I think 20 years from now they will still be on top. I also heard a while back that Warren Buffett has never sold a share of Apple, he just buys and holds. |
Funny. I just sent my wife an article on this. We sorta killed it. Makes up for my other goof picks.

I bought a little bit for my IRA back in the day.
